born january 8, 1935 remembering elvis died august 16, 1977 iris: i fixed elvis a fried banana-and-sponge sandwich at least once a day for over 16 years. if he didn't get his fried banana-and-sponge sandwich he'd commence to yellin' & carryin'-on & ululatin' & rendin' his garments & walkin' in tight circles & claimin' he'd become death the destroyer of worlds & i don't know whatall. iris duvalle, sous-frycook, memphis recipe combine 2 slices white bread, 1 banana sliced lengthwise 1 kitchen sponge (clean) pan-fry in butter to taste. serve with pork gravy & kudzu. shrub: i never met the man but damn dog came by nearly every day. a shrub, memphis barapti: the elvis of my recollection is the wild young rockabilly, his hair slick with yak butter, reaching your very soul with a honeyed voice & a few easy chords, not the bloated self-caricature of the later years. also his film work with ann-margret stands out. barapti spalambo, tibet. elvis 1: well, yesterday we were all gonna go in the bathroom & overdose on a combination of pharmaceuticals as a, you know, gesture. then we decided, nah, life's too short. elvis: you know what? i'm going to start dressing like robert goulet instead. the elvisionairies, las vegas.

The only Elvis recording I own is his Christmas album. It is something else.

I saw Robert Goulet dribble a football on Laugh-In one time, just like a basketball, and have had great respect for the man ever since.

Recipe for a Peanut Butter-Banana Sandwhich, a la Elvis
3 tbs of peanut butter
2 slices of white bread
1 banana, peeled and sliced
3 slices of bacon (cooked)
1 ½ tsp of butter
1.Spread the jiff on one slice of the bread. Layer over it with the sliced banana, then the slices of pre-cooked bacon. Slap that other bread slice on and spread peanut butter along the outside crust edge to create a sealant.
2.Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat on each side until golden brown and the peanut is melted. Shouldn’t take more than 4 minutes.
3.Eat your messy dagwood while listening to That’s Alright, Mama.

Iris DuValle may know ’her" Elvis, but I much prefer Iris DeMent, the best under-known folk singer of the last generation. And Barapti kinda echoes my sentiment about the Sun-years Elvis….
