The GOP is reaping what it sowed. It started when the Tea Partyers destroyed moderate Republicans from maintaining their seats and Tea Party reactionaries took over. They drove John Bahner out of the House and he was so happy to go.
For at least the past two generations, Republicans have depended on the Religious Right types to support them, and they have been very dependable, despite the fact that very few of them have enough money that they were not working against their own best interests. For them, it didn’t have anything to do with economics, because they were convinced that the Republicans believed in the Family Values agenda- anti-gay, anti-abortion, etc. Somehow they managed not to notice that once Republicans were elected, they completely ignored that agenda, or make it a trade-off for securing the goals of the 1%ers who were controlling the Republican party. In fact, they rarely mentioned those issues unless they were using them as a bargaining chip—- until the next time they needed volunteers, when it again became their mantra. After at least 40 years, the Religious Right finally figured out that the Establishment Republicans were playing them for fools, which created the Tea Party, and they are continuing to prove they are fools by voting against anyone who isn’t an Establishment Republican. You really can’t blame them for hating the establishment, but the fact that they are considering Donald Trump, who has the Family Values credentials of a tomcat, is just not a logical alternative.
17 hrs • Dear Members and Alumni,In every presidential election since 1888, the members and Executive Board of the Harvard Republican Club have gathered to discuss, debate, and eventually endorse the standard-bearer of our party. But for the first time in 128 years, we, the oldest College Republicans chapter in the nation, will not be endorsing the Republican nominee.Donald Trump holds views that are antithetical to our values not only as Republicans, but as Americans. The rhetoric he espouses –from racist slander to misogynistic taunts– is not consistent with our conservative principles, and his repeated mocking of the disabled and belittling of the sacrifices made by prisoners of war, Gold Star families, and Purple Heart recipients is not only bad politics, but absurdly cruel. If enacted, Donald Trump’s platform would endanger our security both at home and abroad. Domestically, his protectionist trade policies and draconian immigration restrictions would enlarge our federal deficit, raise prices for consumers, and throw our economy back into recession. Trump’s global outlook, steeped in isolationism, is considerably out-of-step with the traditional Republican stance as well. The flippancy with which he is willing to abdicate the United States’ responsibility to lead is alarming. Calling for the US’ withdrawal from NATO and actively endorsing nuclear proliferation, Donald Trump’s foreign policy would wreak havoc on the established world order which has held aggressive foreign powers in check since World War II. …
This should happen for his treasonous calls for Russia to attack our country. This should happen for his treasonous calls to close our boarders on basis of religions. This should happen for his treason against our current military and our POWs from the past. This should happen for his treasonous calls for torture, killing families and wanting to arm the world with nuclear weaponry. And it should be the GOP to do it, they are the ones who unleashed this beast on us. If they don’t stop him, they are complicit in his treason against our great country. All he wants to do is prove the USA is dirt, the profit off of that. The GOP can stop him, or give him a free pass.
This is showing the Republicans. Usually the Democratic party is depicted as Donkeys and Republicans as Elephants. The Republicans are trying to oust him because he is so crazy he is making it hard to vote for him, that is why he is being tied to the pole in front of the firing line see? he is asking for his purple heart because he got deferments from Viet Nam because he was a coward. So it is funny that he asks for a purple heart that was given to him by someone he does not respect (he doesn’t like losers who get hurt in combat)
JBBLAW: nice to see some Republicans are waking up an opening their eyes, and speaking out.
Tinker-Taylor speaking to moral principle from the Republicans is like bacteria doing their job in a sewer plant digester as “getting a little fresh air”.
What about a fist in the face for and from all the people you hate and put down?the ones of us who are good will maybe offer help for your mental illnesses.and that goes for H. Clinton too.
What you said just shows your hatefulness toward anyone who doesn’t agree with you. Both parties have killed themselves this year .Both candidates are too bad to choose. Many people will vote democrat to keep trump out of the white house and I don’t blame them. Many of them don’t know that H.Clinton is evil. .
SO stop being a troll by adding your hate filled comment especially when it doesn’t even relate to the cartoon.
I just hope that he hangs on to the election. There was talk about dropping him and choosing someone more electable. That would be a disaster for the country.

Purple Heart, indeed. T Rump and the person who gave him the medal are not patriots.

Just goes to show, moral principle isn’t very important to the GOP, they just want to win so they can impose their will on everyone else.
