That reminds me of my late mother-in-law. We used to kiddingly say she had a green body. I had seen her look at a plan say “You don’t belong here”, reach down yank it out of the ground, dig a quick hole in the location she thought the plant would better suited, stick in the hols and push the dirt up around. Darned if that danged thing didn’t just thrive in the new location.
I only have pots on my patio in summer as my yard is…well…never mind…not conducive. I pile up the pots under the eaves at season’s end. I was surprised to see some DO come back. So far, I’ve managed to carry a geranium over for 5 years In the NW, outside that is a miracle! Also, peonies, heliotrope and Gerber daisies. I ‘winter’ some in the garage on a shelf near a sunny west-facing window. It helps. However…I HAVE taken Janis’s route at times!I have a silly habit of attachment to some of my plants! Who says kindness and care doesn’t affect them??
About 20 years ago, I spotted a single green stalk, dead center, in my dirt driveway. It looked like a thorny rose to me but I called on Kid Sister to take a look. She patted me on the shoulder for having good eyesight. She moved this volunteer to the south side of my garage. The singleton has grown into a thorny mass wrapped around the corner of the garage. This is a tough critter, surviving drought and my neglect, even the gophers leave it alone. It bloomed nicely this year; we’re in only moderate drought this season.

Ah, if only I could replace obnoxious people as easily as Janis replaces dead flowers…

My sister and my eldest daughter could grow cactus in a swap. The only green on my thumbs is mildew.

finale, but I love the fruit, one of my favorites..They don’t travel well, and you have to eat the stem, but straight off the tree they’re delicious…

I grew up hearing that my mom could plant a horse patty and grow a pony. The woman was that good at gardening.
