My ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor…. Aah, in them thar days, miles per galleon was much more personally significant. Today’s curse, Spanish and English speaking people get hired faster in the U.S.
Remind me of a true incident at our marina. One of the couples in a slip across from us decided to take their “little boat” out for an overnight. The young son of the couple in the slip next to us asked me where (names deleted for obvious reasons) went. I replied, “They went out to spend a night on the river.”
He asked,“How will they know where they are in the dark?”
I told him, “Don’t worry, they have a sextant, and they will be able to use the stars to guide them home.”
He looked at me a little bit baffled, and just replied, “Oh.”
Well, when our marina friends returned the next morning, the youngster ran out to greet them, and guess what he said?
Innocent as it was, he asked them if they had a chance to use their “sex tent”…

Calvin, wise pirates do not try their luck with Royal Navy frigates. You are both likely to end up hanging from the yard arm.

So if the ship is already a plank, you call it ride the plank, or fall overboard?

I’m sure all you sophisticates know no one ever walked a plank. Who would bother to construct a plank when you can just throw folks overboard?
