Adam: I can't believe hockey season starts in less than a month. Clayton: That was a quick offseason. Adam: Who do you like this year? B'Hawks to repeat? Flyers to avenge? Habs to surprise? Clayton: Let me think. Adam: Sharks to bite? Kings to rule? Flames to burn? Oilers to get greased? Clayton: I'm going to say something that may surprise you. Adam: You wouldn't. Clayton: Yes, no doubt about it. Leafs over the Islanders for the cup. Adam: Impossible. Clayton: Nothing is impossible in the NHL! Adam: Well, that is. They're in the same conference. Clayton: I also predict Don Cherry will tone down his act. Adam: Pfft. Leafs over the Isles is more likely.

I would say Chicago Blackhawks, or Pittsburgh Penguins, or maybe even the Colorado Avalanche. And you can never count out the Detroit Redwings.

The name “Habs” came from les habitants, the French settlers and later the inhabitants of French origin who farmed along the shores of the St. Lawrence Gulf and River. The nickname was given to the Montreal Canadiens way back when they were predominantly made up of French Canadian players. The name stuck, even though they no longer have an unusually high percentage of French Canadians on the team.

The day Don Cherry “tones” it down is the day Hockey Night in Canada (TV show on CBC here in Canada) goes off the air,, you can’t have that show without Don and his over the top suits! look it up, they are very um “colourful”
