I think Ron is close, but I read it that Luddie saw Arlo watching the cats “in” the screen and wanted Arlo to pay attention to him. He got excited when he found a screen “he” could jump into. Our cats do stuff like that all the time when they want us to notice them. sigh…..
Our cat howl’s when he wants attention, food, doors opened,go outside, winter go away, you name it.Ive got the t.v. Screwed down to the table so no worries there.
I think the cat saw Arlo laughing at what other cats did (possibly trying to jump on top of flat-screen tv’s) and thought he’d get the same reaction if he tried it, but instead Arlo doesn’t seem to think it’s so funny when it’s HIS tv, and the cat knocks it over. One of my cats likes to jump on top of our flat screen tv to sleep – we bungie-corded it to the entertainment center so he can’t tip it over when he does it.
I think we are assigning more logic to Ludwig than most cats possess. Unless we are talking about food ie: some kind of prey. In that case, they are incredible at working out the logistics.
Good reason not to have a cat. Have owned 5 dogs in in my adult life, none have ever ruined something expensive like this— just a chewed-up slipper or old shoe now and then.

It was funny seeing someone else’s cat do it on you tube. Not so funny when your own cat copies it.

I think Luddie wanted to jump into Arlo’s lap, couldn’t, and decided to sleep on the tv.

TV or not TV? That is the question!

Luddie is just copying what he saw that made Arlo so happy. But cats don’t grasp Schadenfreude.

Oh my that brings back memories. My Indy would fall asleep on the big tv back when. Always warm in the winter.

Never had this problem with our cats. The TV was on a shelf that was built for it so they couldn’t jump on it.

If you’re a cat, it’s all about getting attention, one way or another.
