As it’s on US territory reserved when we granted Cuba “independence”, it’s been a very expensive fraud, and insult to the Constition and law, from the first day.

I still say that all the doors and gates in Gitmo should be opened, to allow the prisoners to walk into Cuba. Then just hope they’re not able to get the resources to exact revenge for the abuse they’ve experienced.

GOP runs on fear. It’s only a bad case of NIMBY.

That thing is costing so much to keep open. Any responsible government would have shut it down.If people are old enough to remember, our country had laws about holding people without a trial. We had a lot of Good laws that the government has done away with..we need to stop with all the “skull and bones” boys

    The definition of today’s Republicans:

Paranoia is a thought process believed to be heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory, or beliefs of conspiracy concerning a perceived threat towards oneself (e.g. “Everyone is out to get me”). Paranoia is distinct from phobias, which also involve irrational fear, but usually no blame. Making false accusations and the general distrust of others also frequently accompany paranoia. For example, an incident most people would view as an accident or coincidence, a paranoid person might believe was intentional.

If Scalia were here, and he were honest, he would say “Of COURSE the sitting president has every constitutional right to nominate a justice, who deserves a fair hearing.”

A few questions for our rightwing friends:Why do you assume that every inmate incarcerated in Gitmo is AUTOMATICALLY a terrorist? How many felons convicted of terrorist acts, who were then incarcerated on US soil, have ever escaped custody? How many inmates who were released from Gitmo ever returned to the US and tried commit a terrorist act?

It wasn’t broken. The Senate republicans aren’t “not consenting”, they’re sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting “Lalalala” like the spoiled children they are.

@ night gaunt: Old coal was referring to the supposed 1/3 would join ISIS if released. It would be 1% increase in ISISA numbers. His point: no noticeable cost to closing GITMO
