Hate and intolerance are Republican values. That much is clear.

So we should all leave Christianity because of Westboro Baptist Church, Warren Jeffs’ church, Wheaton College, and Franklin Graham? (And that’s only the beginning)

Proving the point in the cartoon. No conservative can tolerate tolerance. If you have a shred of humanity or rationality, it means that you’re pretty squishy as a conservative.

The problem that we are going to have with Trump, Cruz and Rubio is that they are either, in Cruz’ case, the generation that jumped over the border, or their are the first generation removed from the immigrants who did..In Trump’s case, there is the citizenship problems his mother, Mary Anne McLeod brings—she was a dual citizen of both the US and the UK and any children she bore also carry that citizenship status..In Cruz’ case, there may be that American mother, but while in Canada, she may have also applied for citizenship status and even voted and paid taxes while living in Alberta and that dual citizenship also spread to her children, including Ted..As for Rubio’s case, his parents only became American when they fled Cuba and their children reflect the zeal and fervor of those parents..I would have a lot more respect for these three if their generations in their families were not so close to the generations that came to this country..Somebody from either Linda Ronstadt’s or Hank Salazar (former Secretary of the Interior and possible Colorado Governor) would command my respect and get my vote perhaps because their families were here and became American through the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo in 1848—meaning that “the border jumped over their homes and their families” than any child of the previous generation that immigrated to the United States..It sort of betrays the ideals that those of us whose ancestors fought the American Revolution fought for, including to not risk being dominated by a foreign power, be they from across the Atlantic, the Loyalists on the other side of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty Line or the Spanish colonists from that island south of Florida.

It was “W” who right after 9/11 addressed Muslims and spoke of their religion of peace, and that Americans should NOT turn against these fellow citizens because of their Muslim Faith. So much for that with “conservatives at large”.

Seriously? Californicated, you are an example of what’s wrong with a lot of Republicans. People who have come here and become naturalized citizens and their children are just as much Americans as those who came here generations ago. I speak as one who had relatives who fought in the American Revolution. When my sister-in-law (who is from Poland) became a naturalized citizen about 10 years ago, I’ll never forget the ceremony. One of the things shown was a video of President Bush saying that all of them were just as much Americans as those of who lived here all of their lives. There was a lot of pride in that room. There are also a lot of naturalized citizens and their children who joined the military and gave their lives so that you can enjoy your freedom. Get your head out of your a**. This is a nation of immigrants and we are stronger for it.

Agnostic may do the work of a word that could be used quite a bit, today, but is not: “areligious”

    — Merriam-Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary

a-religious / adjectiveEtymology: a + religious: noncommittal or professedly neutral concerning religious matters

Rubio is pro muslim. The bill he introduced in the U.S. senate last year would have allowed an unlimited number of muslims to enter the U. S.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that if someone I am dealing with claims to be a “Good Christian” or a Good (name the religion of your choice), the first thing I do is check for a knife in the back. I’ve had less trouble with any 10 atheists or agnostics than with any single “Good Christian” I think that if the human race survives long enough, which I doubt, it will eventually outgrow the need for any organized religion.
