Oh, and here I thought the explosion was making it brighter. Guess the sun is coming up instead. Also, Wally doesn’t believe you, Holly. I don’t blame him.
Holly’s brief moment of lucidity continues..Perhaps she only thinks it is herself causing this rather than the “other one” the force that Wally encountered.Holly’s mind is simple, this may be the only way she can explain her irrational outbursts.Perhaps, Wally has reached her finally…No therapists, hospitals, or meds to help here.. We have a sick mouse on our hands. The Iroquois held themselves responsible for the care of infirm and mentally ill people in their tribes. It takes a village…Or a village of three, at least. If Holly is going to stick around, she is going to need a lot of care..
I think that Holly is being sincere. This looks like the Holly we know, but it is only a start. So glad this little break thru has happened. This, even if it’s slow, may help Chik deal with his trauma too.
Hmm. “Coming apart inside”. Considering that the condition that turns mutants into completely batshit crazy murder machines is called schism syndrome, Wally’s shocked expression may be justified.
I can’t read expressions well enough to understand what Wally’s eyes are saying, if anything. Given the things he’s said in the past, I think Wally understands that Holly has had problems for a long time and that it all came to a head during the milk trial. He went with her to the surface to protect her and he hoped the experience would help her get well. Maybe it finally is.I’m wondering if the thing that triggered Holly’s breakthrough is Wally telling her that he loved her. I wonder if she was aware of the kiss Kirbee gave him and was feeling that Kirbee might have replaced her in Wally’s life. That could explain why she seemed to be worse after leaving Unity.
By her recognizing that she has a mental illness she has made a big step whether there is any sort of therapy or medicine available or not. Wally has had an interesting journey from a loner to here.
There are so many variables here to be able to accurately guess, but I’m wondering if that ‘schism syndrome’ is actually not a mental breakdown. Perhaps there is another “mutant monster” that is a spirit of possession…
There’s no telling what kind of colony they’re going to end up in next, but at least we know that Holly is taking the first steps on the road to recovery.
I wonder if the dittos might help Holly talk it out like they did with Wally and his time in Bordavia. I realize that Wally isn’t the ditto wrangler that Aaron Marx is, but the feral dittos in Hillside were able to tell Sparkplug’s story so this might be something they’re naturally inclined to do.
In the meantime, I hope that Kirbee and Chic aren’t becoming the proverbial “chopped liver.”.I’m very concerned that Holly’s “cure” may well require dropping Kirbee and Chic like “hot potatoes.”.And then there’s the “Jim” thing and his prophecy on how Holly dies. Not that we know what it is, but likely Wally does..What a mess.
Interesting exchange between Veteran and mr_sherman:.Holly blurting out – for what appears to be an extended period of time in our eyes. Get it out and move on, or something like that, Veteran said, and I think mr_sherman misinterpreted him – “moving on” meant moving towards a cure, though I think mr_sherman thought he meant dumping her..Initially, so did I..mr_sherman commented: Still married?.Well, here goes..Holly’s current behavior pretty much matches my previous wife’s behavior, pretty much constant over the entire 25 years we were married..During good times, it came off as if she were joking. But during bad times…I think I’ll leave off here..During our 25th wedding anniversary, she said, if she had it to do all over again, she wouldn’t..Weeks or months later, she would say, she wanted a divorce..Finally, when she had said it one too many times, I said, you want a divorce, you can have a divorce..I had become tired of the fighting..So, the question I have for Wally (even if he is a fictional character) is this: How far down this road have we gone? Moreover, how far down this road do you want to go?.To say, stick it out, presumes that things will get better someday..But what if someday never comes?.The look in Wally’s eyes could be anything. It could be, great, she’s finally coming around. But it could just as easily be, what the sam hill did I get myself into? Can this ever get better?

Now the question (which Wally is probably asking himself) is whether or not Holly can be fixed, and if so, how?

I think Wally’s thinking, is she going to turn guano crazy on him again any moment and will he have to put her down.
