Schools already have all the fund-raising they need. They are called taxes. If you don’t have enough funds to buy books and paper for the kids, trying laying off a few dozen administrative drones, their assistants, their assistant’s assistants and the like and apply the money towards the teachers and kids. Works miracles!
We held a “Stuff the Bus” event to get kids school supplies and backpacks. Meanwhile, the junior high is constructing a new outdoor sports stadium. I think something’s more fundamentally wrong than taxes.
“It’ll be a great day when schools have all the money they need and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber.” I bought a sweatshirt with that on it for my father’s retirement. He wore it to his first VFW meeting. After they found out he retired with 3 stars no one bothered him about it.

I didn’t mind fundraising for extracurricular activities, but I would never peddle junk for the general slush fund.
