People have used the Bible to justify slavery, lynching gays, and killing doctors accused of performing abortions. Groups like Westburo Baptist Church say the Bible is the reason they advocate gays should be put to death. Perhaps the Bible should be banned?

@John SmithYou’re saying that Jim Crow is a “decent American ideal?”

And, by the way, it was the “libs” that started, fought, and won the American War of Independence!

Because, everyone named Mohammed is a terrorist, after all. And if it turned out he was mad because a Marine stole his girlfriend, who cares? He’s still a terrorist. Because his name is Mohammed.

And banning the Quran would really work.

What complete crap! The difference between the Confederate Flag and the Koran is that not everyone who reads and believes in the Koran becomes a homicidal maniac but everyone who displays the Confederate Flag is a racist and is doing so to proclaim their racists beliefs!

Additionally Lester, where is your Teapublican concern for religious liberties? Was it because the gunman in TN didn’t shoot up a gay pride parade? Amazing how completely fungible your ethics are.

Well the Confederate Flag was not banned. It is just not sanction by South Carolina to fly on the capital grounds. They only steam coming out of ears seems to be from the right.

True, the Bible does contain some rather virtriolic language, and inducements to violence, but Christianity has largely outgrown it and matured. Just because Christianity has a closet of sins does not give Islam the right to commit theirs. Humanity is in the twenty-first century now; there is much to learn from the past, and to improve upon.

The difference — which Lester conveniently neglects — is that the Koran is a book of time-tested religious teachings whose teachings are sometimes twisted by violent killers and the Confederate battle flag is a symbol created by violent killers who wanted to destroy the United States. The Koran’s message can be misinterpreted, the Confederacy’s message cannot be.

Have any Christians any where, made the news by throwing gay people from the top of multiple story buildings?Or beheading people who aren’t doing as they say?.Yes. In Texas they do it by dragging the person behind a Pick Up Truck until the head pops off..Oh, wait, that was just some Good Ol’ Boys having a fine Texas Friday Night. With Beer..[Snark Off].

Well, I can’t speak for everybody else, but the reason I keep quiet about those topics is because I recognize that is THEIR business to resolve, not ours. We can try and tell them that we personally don’t think it right to do all this stuff we have issues with for one reason or another, but it’s not going to do much good until they agree that we’re right, and ultimately that’s something they’re going to have to figure out on their own.

And anyway, to everybody, how would YOU react if they all came to us Americans and started ordering us on what we could or could not do? If you say we’d be all peaceful and accepting and so for, ha, you don’t know America at all.
