My old one had a barely older than cub grizzlie bear in his side office. I don’t know if he appreciated I shot a lot of bears, but with tranquilizers. Even had to give several CPR, and mouth to nose- yep, not a PETA type, but love animals, not trophy hunters.

Humans are the most dangerous animal on the planet. Trophy (slaughterers) hunters have great big guns and tiny little “appendages.”

I think to be fair he should be dropped in the middle of the Serengeti and have to fight off a lion with his bare hands

It’s just not a sport. It’s just not “manly”. I go along with the old cry to arm bears!

Frankly, I’m more worried about ISIS and Plan Parenthood.

Not much different that the “high fence” deer hunting that is legal in Indiana-why develop skill when for a few thousand dollars you can bag the trophy of a lifetime (the deer’s) in a glorified cage. Nothing wrong with hunting for food, but the individual who goes on “canned” hunts must have a very poor sense of self-worth if that is what it takes to make them feel like a real man.

I have a friend who is a human dentist who was called in by the local zoo to do a root canal on their lion. The poor lion needed his teeth fixed and they needed a dentist. My friend had never worked on a lion before but he figured as long as it was sedated that he would give it a try. The lion was fine. The root canal worked. Not all dentists hate lions.

These set-up hunts have been happening for years, and numerous articles have been printed, but nothing has been done. Now, a face has been given to the victims, and a target painted on the hunters, and the world takes notice.

BTW: reducing the mercury in filling materials greatly reduced the number of dentists who went insane from the constant exposure.

The issue isn’t persecuting dentists, it’s stopping the poaching of animals for “trophies”. Long ago oologists (egg collectors) nearly wiped out many species by over-collecting the eggs of birds (did wipe out some). Those paying to take these rare animals are doing the same thing with the critters, often illegally. Most of those cases never make news, which is why at least Cecil may have raised folks awareness??
