Back in the late 70s, National Lampoon (is that even on the magazine shelves any more?) used to do a radio show; they released an album of bits from it. In one, you hear general crowd murmuring in the background, followed by a mechanical rushing sound, a chopping sound, the sound of something falling into a bin of some kind, and suddenly the crowd cheering wildly. “Well, there you have it,” intones an announcer, "At 3:27 of the second period, Guy Gilbert (pronounced “ghee zhill-bear” in this case) guillotined for high sticking! Let’s see that again in slow-motion!" Whereupon the sound effects were replayed at about half-speed, minus the crowd noises.
