A man is looking at Valentine's Day cards. All of the topics are very specific, such as "Age Gap Couple" and "Match.com Couples." Man: Do you have any plain vanilla valentine cards?
How about blank ones? Do you know hard it is to find blank ones in the UK? It is very much an Anglo-world thing leading the greeting card markets to have pre-titled greeting cards. Over the past 10 years I’ve noticed Austria & Portugal beginning to do the same. Still nowhere as prevalent as in the UK or even South Africa though (or, I imagine, judging from the ’toon above, the USA).
Commercialism, around since ‘cave man’ days’ when some entrepreneur cave person made carved stone trinkets—that one could give to and so entice a prospective mate—in exchange for food and favor. The only difference between then and today is the ‘scale’ of it all…as the mentality behind it is so much the same.
Don’t know about you all, but I met the love of my life on the 14th of February, 1993, and we are going to celebrate, in three days time, that eventful happening with not one but two bottles of Don Ruinart. Yummmm. And we’ll probably add some toast with smoked salmon and foie gras. Double yummmm.
“Double entendre Jase? I see your point as both serious and tongue-in-cheek. Seriously, I can sympathize. TIC I laugh with you. Thank you for being, you.”Yes, ‘twas meant both ways. I can’t take credit for it, though. I heard a gay comedian say it years ago.
We named our cat Votaire (only intellectual in the family). Since the Charly shootings, there has been renewed interest in Voltaire as he advocated freedom of speech, separation of church and state, attacking the established Catholic Church, which was pretty risky business in those days….he did live to 83. .

Some of the greeting cards for Cinco de Mayo include images of freaky horse pinatas

Actually, I laughed at logicalone’s comment. If he meant offense, it went right over my head.
