Theatre owners are probably the same ones donating to the campaign funds of the toughest talking conservatives.

When Chaplin made “The Great Dictator” in 1940, he named his dictator Hynkel, and called his country Tomania, while his fellow dictator was Napaloni of Bacteria. All Sony had to do was invent a “fictional” Asian country, include a “any similarity between …” notice, and with a straight face say “this isn’t about North Korea” and they could probably have gotten away with it. The movie would have been no better nor worse for it. (I understand it’s a pretty lousy movie anyway.) The North Koreans probably would have left them alone. Or not.And nasty as the North Koreans are, is there any reason to think they have the capacity to carry out attacks on movie theaters in the United States? Have they got that kind of network of agents here? I suspect the threats are all bluff. But then, we live in an age of fear, and are easily manipulated by threats. They MIGHT not be bluffing, after all.Actually, there may be a silver lining. The “free world” has been largely oblivious to the power and danger of cyber-sabotage. Most of our cyber-security is like the locks on our doors: able to stop someone from just walking in, but not someone who REALLY wants in. This may wake us up a bit on the need for greater efforts in this area.

My father told me that locks are to keep out honest people. I suspect that applies to cyber-security as well.

I’m buying an Xbox One instead of a PS4. Never Sony again.

I don’t understand how computer hackers can blow up a theater. What command can you send to a movie projector to make it explode?

denis1112: Venezuela and Brazil have free elections, which is more than can be said for the United States with its massive disenfranchisement and having invented gerrymandering. And who consumes those drugs from Mexico? Get that 2×4 out of your own eye before treating the dust in others’.

Let’s face it, any five year old can phone in a bomb threat to shut down his preschool. The question is, is it a credible threat? Put another way, how many movies do the Taliban object to? (Answer: all of them.)
