I remember going to a mall in Burlington, NC as a kid and one of the fetures around the mall was these “telephones” for kids. Drop in a few quarters and get told a story.
My curiosity has just been piqued. What would happen today if I dialed “0?” Is there an operator? I might not get a satisfying answer, though. We haven’t had a land line in two years. What happens if I punch “0” on my cell phone? I am almost scared to try.

Some years down the line, Charlie Brown’ll get his younger sister Sally who sure has LOADS to talk about.

I did something roughly similar to this when I was about four. That was back when you could leave a kid at home alone without getting on the news.

I wonder if this was the inspiration for the “information please” glurge.
