Well at least there won’t be any misunderstandings on Christmas. No small boxes that don’t have a ring inside.

You expect him to be able to afford a Mall Jewelery Store ring on an Honest Cops salary?

…a bridge too far!

The gag worked. They saw him in the jewelry store, had their hearts & imaginations going and then leveled it out with “it’s a nice watch”. You could be following the ‘9 Chickweed Lane" comic where the ’who is that buried in the field’ arc has been going for over a year!

That wouldn’t work on me. I’d ask how long it’s going to take and if it’s more than five or ten minutes I’d just leave it and pick it up later.

Andy Griffith show from the 1960’s. Andy and Helen in jewelry store for Helen to pick up necklace for niece. Barney sees them and before its over all of Mayberry thinks they are engaged.

I’m officially sick of this storyline and appalled at the way everyone in Val and Phil’s lives are trying to force them into some sort of conventional relationship when they clearly aren’t interested in that. People’s relationships are their own damn business and trying to coerce people around you into “traditional” roles is a crappy way to treat anyone, especially someone you purport to care about.

“pitches it high, wide and deep.” Yeah, that’s why there are hip boots. Stupid comments like CF’s bring out the retired Electronics Tech in me. Pure reflex… :-)

You are aware that this is a comic strip, right? The story line is fine Jan. Press on.
