I believe the reason the guns are held so close to Gruesome is so we can see it in the available panel area. Like watching a stereoscopic movie without the anamorphic lens in place.
Good morning my friends. Tomorrow or Sunday should be very exciting. Will Gruesome do out with a bang? Will Lizz arrest the Doctor? Have a blessed day my friends.
Other films of note presented on CINEMA INSOMNIA include …
THE SEVENTH SEAL, directed by Ingmar Bergman and starring a young Max Von Sydow, years later notably spoofed in BILL AND TED’s BOGUS JOURNEY.
SCARLET STREET, directed by Fritz Lang, featuring a pre-DARK SHADOWS Miss Joan Bennett.
Roger Corman’s 1963 opus, THE TERROR, with performances by Boris Karloff and a young Jack Nicholson.
Their mix of movies is beyond eclectic, from Japanese Tokusatsu to Mexican horror wrestling to MY FAVORITE BRUNETTE with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, along with slightly more recent fare, probably worth a look at some point.
Whatever may happen (?) … just up ahead. it won’t end tamely. That would be dull and rather dumb. Count on an escape, then a mini Chase, so it won’t end in the same building where most of the tale has taken place
Lizz, if still functional in the cold outdoors, should be able to deal with Einstein. But indoors Tracy is in danger of being disarmed by the taller, rangier Gruesome. We still do not know whether Sam has retrieved his service pistol (or if he has a back-up), or whether Gruesome has it. The situation is very fluid, very dangerous. With just a little luck, Gruesome could make a clean getaway.
Yesterday . . . Ken in Ohio . . ." Sydney, I don’t think that’s right. I enlarged the image, and the device on his wrist looks like the newer Wrist Wizard, even though he is saying “Wrist Radio”, because he is quoting the magazine spoof. The old radios were square edged; this device has the rounded edges of the Wizard."-———————————————————————————-
Well we may have to think someone on the Team “Goofed” ?
It’s very clear what they had Sam say, in the Trunk, back on Dec. 3, (panel 3) . . .“If he hadn’t taken my Wrist Wizard I could have called Lizz or Tracy !”
But more revealing was that in the same panel his left Arm was Up in the Air , His wrist clearly shown, without any device appearing on same (?)Take a look back !
Should we think the text then, was a misdirect by the Author to nullify the communication advantage on the day to (say) heighten Sam’s dilemma ? Or did the Artist unfortunately draw a Wrist Wizard in yesterday - by mistake ?What was clear yesterday, was that the word RADIO was used
Meanwhile the audience is in agony: “Do we run out of the theater to safety, or stay and see how this ends?” Also meanwhile, Vitamin Flintheart is overjoyed: “WOW, what a shot to my career – you can’t buy this kind of publicity! (I wonder if Kandikane is impressed?)”
Gruesome was late for his stage “places” call when he had his encounter with Sam. He likely only had time to subdue Sam, take his gun and wrist wizard, and shove him in the trunk. He likely tossed the wizard somewhere in the pile of props along with the locked trunk. Since there are several guns utilized by police officers in the play, he could have put Sam’s gun on the backstage prop table where it would have drawn little notice. More likely, he has the gun in his pocket which is why he is such a cool customer with Tracy holding a weapon on him. Recall that he was apologizing to the Stage Manager for being late.
Still, these inconsistencies are not unlike the minor inconsistencies between Gould’s dailies and Sundays (which often did not quite match up). However, I agree that some of these things should have been shown or described. I believe that showing the scuffle between Gruesome and Sam would have added more excitement to the story and given the reader more disgust for Gruesome. We know that he is a brutal murderer but we have not seen him in action only the after effects. We know he is able to overpower a trained police officer like Sam but we have not seen how. I am still trying to figure out how he got the nickname, “Gruesome” since we haven’t seen him do anything particularly more gruesome than any other of Tracy’s foes.
That all said, I try to go with the flow since I am enjoying this arc. Mike sometimes has the tendency to show inconsistencies and then explain later (re: Not finding the Nitrates under the lake and then up they pop again without explanation even though their appearance denotes that there IS an explanation—we just don’t know yet what that explanation is.) Perhaps we may learn answers at a later time.
Thank you everyone for your concern and prayers for my mom. She’s doing a little better and resting relatively comfortably. I’m confidant she’ll rebound from this latest setback, which is more than I can say for that gun in Tracy’s hand!!! Is over confidence and carelessness a requirement to joining the MCU? Just asking!.
Avenger, good to hear she is doing better. Now take her down to the bridge to share the peaceful panorama that puts you in the daily good mood! After all, you got the only bridge condo in town with WiFi!
since Gruesome knows not only is he covered by an armed Dick AND Sam now, but lots of back up as well, I’d think it’s calls for a hostage situation as his only way out…….hey, we could have it be Ms. Kane, and Vitamin rescuing her!
I think that too much explaining can slow down the pacing too much, but perhaps some more things could be explained, especially if the explaining can be done through action sequences.

All but guaranteed a chase, I’d think.
But how do the Nitrates, their “van” and the Christmas Tree strapped to the roof of the vehicle fit into this puzzle?
And a Good Morning to you, VistaBill.

It’s not exactly Abner Cadaver, but the MST3K-esque CINEMA INSOMNIA presented DICK TRACY MEETS GRUESOME in a third season episode.

Morning, Tracyville! Two unanswered questions, left over from yesterday:1) Are they backstage or on stage?2) How did Sam get his Wrist Wizard back?
