For three whole panels, Alice is very attentive to what Dill says and demonstrates about his new bike horn. Then, very practically, she turns back to the important stuff: Dill’s funny-looking helmet!
You know? I’ve come to realize that I really don’t like Alice. Don’t get me wrong: I love Cul de Sac, it’s among my favorite strips of all time. And I know that Alice’s personality is fundamental to the strip. Some other characters could change without disrupting it, but if Alice wasn’t Alice, Cul de Sac would not be the Cul de Sac that I love. Nevertheless I just don’t like her personality. And if she were a real girl, I would stay away if possible and suggest to the other kids to stay away from her too. A gentle soul like Dill deserves better.

What’s that peanut-shaped thing in your head, Alice? Oh, it’s your brain!

Dill’s hat’s a reactor. See its eyes register the action.

My first thought was, “oh, honestly! As if that kiddie car could get up to speeds where a helmet would be necessary!”
….and then I remembered that this is Dill we’re talking about here.

Never could understand the practicality of those bike helmets. They only cover the top of the head – who lands like that?
