I don’t even have Amazon Prime to watch the teevee show Garry is skipping out on his comic strip for. What a rip.

This is like double jeopardy. If Trudeau isn’t going to resume his comic strip, he should at least be honest about it.

Jerkwad Jeff sure inspires the trolls quite well wouldn’t you say?

Now it’s reruns on Sunday. i wonder how the syndicators managed to sell this idea? Trudeu should do the right thing and retire until he’s ready to produce new material. This isn’t fair to the cartoonists who would love to have his spot in a newspaper.

I have Amazon prime which means alpha house is free. I think u can pay a nominal fee to watch alpha if u just go to Amazon without prime. They don’t produce enough shows to make it a lot of $ to watch.

I’ve never seen this, so it’s not a rerun for me. I love “Reality Intern.” – that’s good!

I’d think very few young up-and-coming cartoonists are eyeing the newspaper as their ticket to future fame. I’m 50, and I actually take a newspaper (LA Times), but what’s the rate of people under 30? 2%, maybe? And I don’t even know why I take it. I almost canceled it at one point, and the LA Times called me and gave me an “offer I couldn’t refuse”. Almost free daily delivery, just so I’d keep it.

I was gonna rant about something or other about the decline of today’s print newspaper, but an inner voice told me to ‘curb thy tongue..’ Curbed it is. My Home Page supplies me with all the aptly-named “Yahoo News,” a glorified ‘Hollywood Tonight’ sort.. The level of reportage seems to be that of an 18-year old looking for ‘hits,’ supplying proof-positive that the educational level of the average ‘reader/commenter’ is that of a mouth-breathing D student in his/her second try at 9th grade English.See? I SAID I’d curb my tongue !! But then again, I fib sometimes.

Love this one! I forget the past, so glad to read it again. It is more relevant to my life now.

Sheesh, what a bunch of whinies! Garry’s cartoons can run till the end of time, for all of me. Even if I’ve seen something before (and I can’t always remember it if I did :-D), there’s usually some little detail that seems new. A few cartoonists, like Charles Schultz, have produced material that can profitably be viewed in perpetuity. Richard Thompson, creator of “Cul de Sac,” can no longer work because of his Parkinson’s, but his precious five years of reruns are providing entertainment for his many GoComics followers. Also, I think that a guy who’s reached retirement age is entitled to a summer vacation, for cryin’ out loud. End of rant.

Good one, cold mom. Being my son’s landlady in another house he lives in that we own, I will have to remember that line everytime he talks back. “Your rent just went up”. Yes…it should work….

Ok, it isn’t free if you pay for Amazon, sorry. However, it is included if you pay for Amazon prime. If you are not with Amazon prime, it still isn’t a huge amount of $.

The distribution is not all that different from House of Cards on Netflix, for example. It isn’t free either.

I would suggest that if you’re one of the ones who is so offended by reruns, take Nancy Reagan’s advice and just say no. Who is forcing you to read this strip?

after digging thru the D’bury site, here is a quote from the manager of the strip“Editor’s Note:

GBT has put the daily strip on hiatus in order to write the second season of his Amazon Studios political sitcom Alpha House, while continuing to create new Sunday strips. On March 3rd Doonesbury began a retrospective journey through the strip’s history with the very first strip, originally published on October 26, 1970. Since then we have been moving forward at the rate of four weeks of strips from each year of Doonesbury’s run, and as of today are up to 1977. A few papers have opted not to run these Classic dailies, but most are on board and readers seem to be enjoying the ride.
