The purpose of a middle name is to let you know when you are in BIG trouble.
And a word of advice, if you want to formally name your child something traditionally seen as a nickname ie. Joe, Jack, Sue, Beth, send them to school with a copy of their birth certificate to avoid arguments with the teacher.
