Yep, always wanted to break em out. Set the ponies running thru the fair like crazy, scattering strollers and corndogs. But realistically, those poor things would just stand there and stare at you, even if you did let em loose. Now I have an ex-racehorse, and that can be an exciting ride, let me tell you, even if he is a wannabe golden retriever.

I remember going on such a tame pony ride at Stanley Park (Vancouver, BC). Luckily, the course much a fair bit longer. You could be led around or if older and more experienced, you could “go solo.” :D

Nothing like a pony ride to make you feel better!

We rented some horses at a cabin place in Steamboat once. Mine was called Babydoll, but I called her “The Galloping Gourmet” because she spent all her time grazing.

Nonetheless, my cousins and I liked it enough that we asked if we could do it again. We were told that the horses had been hired for a pack trip up the mountain, so we conferred quickly and asked if we could ride them up and catch a ride back in the pickup. They were okay with that, so we had a real ride up hillside trails, and when a tree was across the trail, we went down the side of the mountain and around, then back up. It was well worth it.

The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a person. Riding: The art of keeping a horse between you and the ground.
