I recently saw a video about using a shoe to remove a cork from a new bottle of wine, but I can’t find it or remember where I saw it. It was a cool idea and worked. Other than a shoe and a beverage, this post has nothing to do with the comic.
One of our eccentric old professors used to carry his pipe around all day with the pipestem stuffed in his shoe. When he lit up at coffee breaks nobody wanted to know how it tasted!
Well, I don’t know about brilliant, but it is innovative and different. Provided of course, the shoe doesn’t fall off the sofa arm and spill his drink all over the floor!
In episode #62 Will the Real Mr. Howell Please Stand Up?, of Gilligan’s Island, Mr. Howell’s impostor does use footwear of some kind for an alcoholic drink, after he falls off a yacht into the ocean. He drinks from the footwear after he reaches the shore of the lagoon of Gilligan’s island.

Actually, I’m using the coffee to warm up the shoe. It helps my plantar fasciitis.

Hey, Opal could also use her shoe as a cup and glass holder and they would become SOLE mates!

I think that’s brilliant! (Earl’s idea, not the comment above me. No offense :S)
