all you need to know is those people don’t feel empathy. they don’t care what happens to the rest of us. they take candy from children and feel no remorse.well, 2 things. they are in charge and unless we vote out those who cater to the filthy rich… it’s only going to get worse.

Today’s cartoon is silly wordplay, and bears no resemblance whatsoever to supply-side economics, the theory that economic growth is best achieved by lowering government barriers to capital formation and production. The beggar is hardly an apt metaphor of the State – he’s just a bystander, not in anybody’s way.

(For further reading on SSE, check out “The Trickle-Down Hoax” by Richard Butrick. Money quote, citing Dr. Sowell: “But there has never been any school of economists who believed in a trickle down theory.”)

Now, if the punchline were about deconstructionism, Wiley would be on to something…

He should have been providing some good or service. Then he would not have had to endure all that sympathy when they came and took his earnings. All such earnings would have been ill-gotten to begin with. Any currencies earned are ill-gotten. The only legitimate income is from the government that owns you and owes you a living for the wonder of your being born. The trickle down theory works in a most excellent way for poverty. Tax the productive and pay the non-productive. The poverty created among the productive will not only trickle down, but will also be amplified so that poverty and dependence steadily grows while the economy steadily declines. But that is historical fact and has no place in modern economic theory, which transcends such things.

Reaganomics has been destroying America by killing off the middle class.Since the rich and corps don’t pay their fair share, the tax dollars use to help keep the cost of college education down is less or gone away..With the amount of debt this generation has to pay for college, their amount of money to help buy cars, homes, going out, getting married is less..Less buying power, smaller economy,..On the ‘getting government out of the business’ is just a smoke screen.Society has to nave laws and so do businesses..Lastly, ‘take money from the productive’ to give to the ‘non-productive’ claim is another smoke screen..The roads and bridges have to be fixed etc.

So many come to this country from foreign countries and succeed as shopkeepers, garbage collectors, masons, etc. They are willing to do jobs others abhor. Many people who have lived here their whole lives expect their income from the taxpayer, propertied, risk taker, etc. The will is where the strongest motive is.

No desire to get into politics here; but, I do need to comment on the 4th panel.Over the years, I was involved with a number of fund raising activities. One thing I learned from my experience is you never place an empty collection jar on a counter. You need “seed” money before folks will show their generosity, and folks usually will be generous. Also interesting to note, the larger the currency used as seed, the larger the average contributions. If you want dollars, use dollars as the seed. Of course, if you use $50 or $100 bills, unless you know your target market will be this generous, it might be best to be a bit more conservative. Also, the collection jar needs to be clear, so everyone can see the contents…

“The ones who kept saying there was no recession because Wall Street was doing fine, so what if the common people were hurting, they didn’t matter.”…I know. It’s a dirty shame, isn’t it?It was in the news again today. There is no recession, just a 3% loss.Unemployment is down.Everything is fine. The wonderful government cares deeply about you.You will never grow old or die or feel pain or have to ever again worry about any of the little things like food, medical care or housing. All you have to do is follow the worms.Funny thing about it was that they told me earlier that Reagan was dead. I guess you can’t keep a good man down.

This is one way the rich get richer while the poor remain poorer, I tried to explain to someone once that borrowing to get ahead was not the right way to do it….$5K later I’m still where I was (poor) and he is not that far ahead of where he was.

Holy moly, people! Did any of you actually READ Smith?!Smith was against pure laissez-faire economics. He essentially said that such a system leads DIRECTLY to a sort of neo-feudalism…
