30-year-old Pakkirappa Hunagundi from Karnataka, India, has had an uncontrollable desire to eat bricks since childhood, a disorder known as Pica. In the 19th century, the Chinese Navy fired cannons at the moon to scare away the dragons they believed were causing a lunar eclipse. Dogs align their bodies along the Earth's north-south magnetic field when they poop, according to a recent European study.

The dogs pooping in front of my house always do it N-S. But that is likely because that is the direction the sidewalk runs.

FWIW, pica need not be specific to bricks. It involves eating anything that was never meant to be food. Mostly afflicts young children and mentally retarded people.

If you use a “hosts file”, you don’t have to “install” anything, it’s just a text file. And since there’s no other program running on your machine, it’s faster too, the IP system just doesn’t even look at the location the ads are coming from.
