    From UN WHO

Measles is one of the leading causes of death among young children even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available. In 2012, there were 122 000 measles deaths globally – about 330 deaths every day or 14 deaths every hour.Measles vaccination resulted in a 78% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2012 worldwide. In 2012, about 84% of the world’s children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services – up from 72% in 2000.Since 2000, more than 1 billion children in high risk countries were vaccinated against the disease through mass vaccination campaigns ― about 145 million of them in 2012.

I remember chicken pox. They’re still in me somewhere, waiting to come back out as shingles one day.

Kip W: I almost died from chicken pox. This was in the 1930s when no vaccine existed. I got the shingles vaccine; I got shingles on my face. We still get into discussions over whether the vaccine made the shingles lighter or had no effect. Incidentally, it is not a one-side-only disease. My pox goes from under my left eye, across the forehead, and down even with my right eye. All still itch.

If you are taking advice of any sort from Jenny McCarthy, you have problems.

My kids got the..then, new…measles vaccine just before we moved to Italy in the 70s. They all got measles anyway….the doctor thought it might be a slight difference in the strain. Measles were a fact of life for kids in the forties…“at least it wasn’t polio”.

badcyclist said, 40 minutes ago“If you are taking advice of any sort from Jenny McCarthy, you have problems.”—————————————————————————————————————The problem is that a LOT more people than McCarthy have been spreading this garbage. A European “scientist” put out a completely falsified study saying that vaccinations lead to autism and other problems. As with other misinformation in our digital world, people started spreading the message via the internet that vaccinations were bad for your child and you should not get them.I read an article that in some California elementary schools, almost half the kids are NOT VACCINATED.Now that’s scary.People, listen to the people that went to college for an extra 10 years studying what’s best for your child. You know, those people in the white coats called Doctors!

I think we’re all in agreement on this one! VACCINATE YOUR CHILDREN!Some pediatricians are refusing patients whose parents won’t vaccinate them, because they don’t want to expose their patients, and I think they’re right. If they are rejecting their pediatrician’s advice in the first place, why should the pediatrician have them as a patient?Vaccination isn’t perfect; it increases resistance, but it does not guarantee you won’t get something. “Herd immunity,” when roughly 85-90% of people are immune through vaccination or other sources, is our best defense against epidemics, and we’ve dropped below that in some communities — including some with “educated” people who ought to know better.

Sadly, martens, Jenny is merely hedging. She isn’t saying what she should say, which is that vaccines do NOT cause autism, her son did not get autism from a vaccine (nor did he get “cured” from it later), and all parents should get their kids vaccinated. Period. All she is doing is dodging the facts and pretending she isn’t responsible for a lot of deaths.

It’s not the government’s job to micro manage our lives, and it is most certainly not its job to practise medicine without a license. Not on us, not on our kids, nor on our pets and livestock. Yes, I know there are plenty of industry whores who hold medical licenses who are more committed to bullying the vulnerable than to dealing with their health, they enable government abuses.

As a kid I had measles, mumps, and whooping cough, AT THE SAME TIME, and the doctor didn’t think I’d live through it. We don’t need to have kids die of preventable diseases. BTW, it wasn’t the vaccine that folks blamed for the autism, it was the PRESERVATIVE the companies used. For many folks, the current rage for flu vaccines is not relevant, but if you’re in an “at risk” group, it’s a good idea.

Gosh, isn’t vaccination some kind of socialism? I mean, if it’s not just to protect yourself, but to help protect the community? Sounds like socialism to me!

Sooky Rottweiler says:Come on, humans! Taking medical advice from Jenny McCarthy is like taking psychological advice from Lucy Van Pelt.

Hey moron liberals, most of the people not vaccinating their kids are your fellow lefties who think there’s some sinister government or pharmaceutical conspiracy to harm kids.Google- “California parents not vaccinating children” and see all the Obama fans that are anti-vaccination.Most Conservatives are smart enough to follow a Doctors advice.

I was also a child of the 50s. I remember being packed in alcohol and ice water to bring down my temperature then 4-6 weeks in a darkened room, no TV, no books. I still have eye problems.

Me too. I remember the awful fever dreams. Jenny McCarthy has made a real rice bowl out of her anti vaccine campaigns. The have moved the publicity meter needle to the right for her which is probably the only thing that really matters in her world.

Cutting to the chase, Jenny McCarthy is a murderess, and should be prosecuted as one. Those who spread her lies should be counted as accomplices.
