I had the misfortune of staying at the state mental hospital for severe depression. No padded rooms, and no straight jackets, but they did have a chair and/or gurney with velcro straps to hold down the people having an “episode”. I saw a lot of injuries from not so gentle take-downs, attempts to escape restraints, and pounding on the seclusion rooms’ doors.
