Gramma Evie: Arnold, I LOVE it here. I can't believe the whole world hasn't flocked to Cape Town. Arnold: Well...South Africa still has a slightly tarnished reputation. And it's several LONG flights for many tourists to get here. ANNEX Gramma Evie: All the more for US then. Arnold: Shall we order the scones?

Well, Evie, you survived the ocean (well, inside of the protective wall)! Have the scones…they’re good! ;)

I have no reason to go anywhere out of the valley (unless ALL my kids and grandkids decode to congregate somewhere for a week). I encourage them to do that here, but we had another wedding in 2012 (Chicago area) and the time before that was Bramson, MO (with tubing and fishing for the boys).

Scones? This must be from the British part of the “Union of South Africa” (as it was known when I was a kid) and not the Dutch part.

“Slightly tarnished reputation”??? No **** Sherlock – c’mon, southern Africa may be unbearably beautiful, and the people lovely, but the crime rate is appalling and I for one am not enthusiastic about returning there because of it.
