The problem is more that wages have not kept up with inflation since the 80’s. My parents bought their first house in 1973 while my father worked as a grocery store assistant meat counter manager after they had two children. You can’t do that with retail or service jobs today. Could a McDonald’s hourly employee ever buy a house? No, but a commensurate wage (perhaps not $15.00 an hour) will keep more people off food stamps. The wage gap between the corporate level and the worker level is the biggest problem. Do away with golden parachutes and guaranteed bonuses and put that money back into the pockets of the employees, and the companies still succeed, the employees make enough money to spend on luxuries and our economy gets back on track. Only allowing 1% of Americans to have enough extra money to spend will continue to spiral the economy downward.

Can’t have it both ways. Either the unions are an organized force — and a liberal one — or not. Not both.

There’s one guy at the corner of Holly and Evans that has a sign proudly declaring: “I need Vodka and Cigarettes”.

I love the way our “conservative friends” constantly go dumpster diving for the most stomach wrenching products, and serve it up as “food for thought”!

There are, and have been, corrupt unions. There ARE and have been corrupt corporations. The REAL problem in the U.S. today however does come from such as “Citizens United” decisions, deregulation of corporations, banking and investment firms, and resource extraction industries since Reagan began a revolution AGAINST the welfare of American citizens and yes, taxpayers.

Captialism is NOT feudalism as imagined by such as “Boehner et al” being an unregulated gift to the wealthy. And yes, both Republicans AND Democrats in Congress have been guilty, though certainly not equally, of bowing to the corporate whip, or just Lobbie$$$.

The issue being that, instead of McDonalds having a cheap labor force subsidized by the American taxpayer, their former workers have to get by on welfare alone? How about McDonalds paying their workers enough to get by without welfare, and maybe cutting back on the yachts and trips to Barbados?

Yep, that’s the American way; try to better your situation and get punished for it.
