If it would only stop raining in Baltimore, maybe we could go swimming, too. Somehow, it’s not the same just standing in the yard and letting the water pour over your head.

No, the people who can’t appreciate stuff like this are the people who are stuck at work because they can’t afford a vacation and the kids are about to start school already, anyway. Other people having fun in August look great through a window.

Thank god for the comments on other strips. Love the August Stone Soup strips of people relaxing and getting to enjoy summer vacation, can’t much stand the party poopers who can’t enjoy strips of people actually getting a vacation and relaxing. Must have absorbed too much of that “Puritan Work Ethic” when they were children or are just perpetual life complainers… Pthht!

I was under the impression that they all work hard at their respective jobs. Maybe the “gotta love August” strips are simply a way of dreaming for a month of Sundays. I’m tired of all the naysayers. It’s a cartoon strip, for pete’s sake. If you want to sling mud, go read the op-ed cartoons and engage in liberal versus conservative wars. Meanwhile, stop complaining about cartoon characters having fun in the sun. It’s petty jealousy that’s boring.

August for me is actually pretty full of normal work. This sequence is getting kind of irritating.

You have to understand that she’s writing in Oregon. Summer doesn’t show up until August and then leaves in late August in Oregon.

Why? August has a lot of heat; and I hate heat.
