It’s more like the Dems were afraid of not being re-elected if they voted for more bans needlessly.

“To suppose arms in the hands of the citizens, to be used at individual discretion, except in private self-defense, or by partial orders of towns, counties, or districts of a state, is to demolish every constitution, and lay the laws prostrate, so that liberty can be enjoyed by no man; it is a dissolution of the government. The fundamental law of the militia is, that it be created, directed, and commanded by the laws, and ever for the support of the laws.” — John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of the United States (1787-1788).

I’ve always thought that lobbying for money should be a serious crime… like other forma of bribery.

It’s not that check that changed his mind, it’s the much bigger one that will go to his opponent, if he DOESN’T play along.

And that’s not just the NRA, does that

    I wouldn’t go that far.

But I’ve often wondered if they could be prosecuted under the RICO laws.

What Doughfoot said. John Adams is my guy. And to those who say the 2nd amendment is intended to help us fight when Bad Guys take over, I say: No, that’s what elections are for. And believe me, if bad guys took over the government, they would have planes, tanks, and bombs. Your pet AK-47 would be laughable.

You have to wonder why any politician would take an illegal bribe anymore, since the laws have changed so much that legal bribes amount to the EXACT same thing!

Private self defense can be accomplished by non lethal means. Guns are all about alpha masculinity, testosterone poisoning and a sense of powerlessness.

The NRA supports the right of criminals and psychos to purchase arms at gun shows and in private sales.

Dem Senators in Red States have a choice! Vote with Blue State Democrat Senators who have little to worry about getting reelected, or vote with their constituents. They can do the right thing (for the national party) and lose their seats, or do the right thing for their states, and remain in power.

The NRA’s objection to background checks at gun shows and to transfer ownership between individuals is tantamount to protecting the criminals and psychotic’s ability to purchase weapons at such events.

Tigger, thank you for making me laugh. I was tired and a bit grumpy, but I feel much better now.^Now that you’ve accused me of failing to make my comment sufficiently pertinent to the topic at hand… please go look at your comment under Joe Heller for April 4. Three comments below your first comment you will see where I asked, “what cartoon is Tigger replying to?”I am still curious.^Curiously,C.

I see Ansonia has changed atavar to a raven In most literature the raven is the consort of wizards, spies for the evil, and are carrion feeders after the battle.

If the 2nd Amendment were revered with the same fervor as the 1st, we would have machine guns and large capacity clips available in street corner vending machines. And in spited of the phrase “shall not be infringed”, the 2nd Amendment is one of the most attacked amendments to the Constitution. How dd “shall not be infringed” become merely a suggestion?

So, then, your hands have the POTENTIAL to be weapons….IF you so CHOOSE to use them against someone that doesn’t know how to use their hands an weapons. No different than someone who carries a gun with a permit and chooses so far not to use it, just like your hands.

Since crooks do not obey the current laws prohibiting robbery and kidnapping, would someone be so kind as to explain how criminals will pay attention to gun-control legislation?
