I have the feeling that there is only one person behind that dark place. It is Algod.(pun meant) He would profit by harassment of all those against his wills. And violence. One of our heros needs to find a way to get him by his scrotum. I am a gentle lady, I don’t use words like “balls”. But the meaning is the same. Hush little baby, don’t you cry.Blessed Be

Listen up commenters. I feel that the fish who are not able to come to the restreant to eat beans, must eat something. Is it maybe the garbage and what other Endtowners lose from bodily activity!!!.Blessings

This is bad. There’s no balance to powerAnd it’s looking much worse by the hour“Constitution? What’s that?”They just rule by fiatThus creating a future quite dour. But such tyrants have often short runs“Fiat” irritates first, then it stuns,Then enrages the massesWho reject “ruling classes”And a few of them might just have guns.=|====/ Level HeadVote for Endtown 2.0And for Doc Rat, tooThe Endtown ForumThe Endtown AuctionThe Endtown Books

    1) I wonder how long the terms are, before this group of the council have to leave and the next ones take their place.2) I wonder how many they are in number.3) I wonder if they all change as one group or the composition of the council changes gradually over time.4) I wonder whether they stay sequestered from society during their tenure. 5) I wonder if they stay isolated from news of what is actually happening in the society.6) I wonder if any of them recognise any of the others.7) I wonder if they actually have power over security, or whether they just think they do.8) I wonder whether the system works this way because the infrastructure has been physically engineered that way, i.e. they physically CAN’T interact with one another, the rats CAN’T have access to their guns without them, the public CAN’T get to see the decisions taken and the votes cast, or whether they just do it that way because of agreed convention.

Either they have their brains networked, or the council elected one person to speak for them. That would make the council a republic instead of a democracy. The speaker would be making all the decisions so the others don’t have to, except when he calls for their vote. He’ll call for a vote only to cover his butt, and they don’t object, to cover theirs.

If that’s not a classic AM rant, then I don’t know what it is. I’m probably wrong (I almost always am), but that’s the feeling I get from this…. ;-)

“10 citizens are chosen at random to serve one month each on an anonymous administrative council” and security answers directly to them. Obviously someone has been tampering with the system or somehow “loading it up” and ignoring the one-month limit as well. Allgood seems a likely suspect because he’s more urbane than Jake and he has said some things in the past that give reason to suspect him. Jake is a more open extremist whereas Allgood is hidden in the machine. It seems likely that there is an ever deeper evil than either of them at work here and they have merely played into the hands of a Party we don’t know yet.

Wow this High Council is making Flask look like a saint right now. At least, as biased as she could be, she had the capacity (how little of it she had, she still had it) to listen to some reason. And Xavier could keep her in check.

Have any here wondered what the High Council sounds like?I have pondered it all weekend. They sound exactly like TOPSIDERS.Remember their rants about killing, power over someone, hateful name calling, toying with folks in general, general over all rudeness. I am not saying Topsiders have taken over directly but you have to ask the question. How many have had suits fail (unconscious or asleep) or altered before the suits but followed the Topsiders dogma. Did not Mr. Allgood sound like a Topsider when he talked about being HUMAN. If you were a mutated Topsider would you not be drawn to a Society for the Preservation of Humanity? Given the current direction of the Society it would draw folks like that. All would have been seen as mutants and may have hidden themselves out of desperation and survival. (If you were a recently mutated Topsider would you admit that to a gang of mutants some of whom relatives and friends you had previously killed). If not then they are the rudest bunch of bureaucrats I have ever heard. They sound like a Monty Python sketch gone wrong.

Remember folks,Open violence will only steel the resolve and will of the council. It would solidify Allgood’s control and place. He could use it to show how ANIMAL many of Endtowners have become loosing their HUMANITY. There is no quick fix. Except we do know it can only (supposedly) go on for a month till the next council is picked. IF THAT EVEN HAPPENS.On a side noteMaybe in the trial Holly can roll those eyes and get everyone to be happy happy joy joy. Love and kiss and hug each other. It worked on the Chef!!!!! ;-))

This is why I think the hero here will be the Editor of the newspaper. Mass public opinion and sentiment can be aroused with the proper wording of what’s going on. The editor threw out the article by Jake in volum two because he didn’t show his boss the evidence he had to back up his article. Walt has the direct evidence of his personal experience as evidence justifying the necessity of writing an article.Like Level_head says “Enraging the masses”.

There are definately some BIG thinkers analyzing these stories and ‘toons. Can’t they just be fun adventure stories without all the cross-examination? I don’t recall such concerns over the old Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon stories.

As a kid I remember my friends and me talking and playing out what might happen next after the latest Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos comic book came out. This was in the early sixties and the story line was about WW II inEurope.Talking about what happens next is a normal trait.

The bear hasn’t made it out yet. How far will he get? They could let him all the way out, figuring they’ve scared him enough to shut him up. They wouldn’t have to let him out, even as mayor. Anything could be said to cover his disappearance—" up here on special assignment", for instance.

mr_sherman, you too huh? Man, were those NAZIs hated. It is strange too after you meet one, they are human just like you. Just as scared, just as brave, fought for what they thought was right, and died thinking it was for the common good. They were fathers, sons, brothers, just like us. Some were monsters, but not all is what I learned as I got older and opened my mind from prejudices. They were like the Rats are now. Misguided by authority. Bound to follow leaders without question as it is what they are required to do. The common NAZI movement follower was swallowed up by the hype, the lights, glamor, and glitz so they joined the party. National Socialism. Sounded great on paper at the time. The name rings equality, freedom, protection, dignity. NAZI are the initials NS in German. Does this not sound like The Society for Preservation of Humanity? High ideal sounding words. Glamor, glitzy, equality, dignity with dark, sinister secrets behind the mask of propriety.Similar lines in Endtown story and real world. The Society can be seen as the National Socialism movement and the Mutants who make a product due to the mutation (dare I say it) the Jewish population. Not saying it is but it is similar.

You really think owning a M4 assault rifle will make the government afraid of you.Let me explain why they are not. They have:M1A1 Abrams tanksBradley personnel carriersM777 howitzersApache Longbow HelicoptersTomahawk Cruise missilesF16F22B1BF117F15F18B52s (Now those are scary massive loads)All the sat comm satellites in space AND all plugged into GPS. They can find your I phone. In other words they have more than you do. They are not afraid of us.I do support your right to own whatever weapon you want legally. I have mine in case my government needs me. I cannot expect the armed forces to hold forever or even defend me. They will defend what they are told to defend. I may be low on priority lists. I might need to help myself. Behind the lines, resistance stuff, covert stuff. Just save myself and my family.I also have them for the coming ZOMBIE apocalypse which knowing the chemical weapons produced so far scare me more than a nuke.

You see Joiner weapons in Endtown still would not stop what is going on. Rats have more, are above them (literally), hold the controls to Endtown operations probably. Cut power if they want, stop supplies from reaching the city. There is a saying. Force makes the other stronger. There is no changing the Council that much appears clear. It is the Security you have to get ahold of. They will have to be swayed as to what they are doing is not right. That cannot be done by force as they would just fight back THINKING they are right. You have got to win them over. It can be done. I don’t think they are that unreasonable you just have to get them convinced to disobey what they are under rules compelled to do by orders.Convince them to disobey but you have to show them why it is wrong.

Yes they are supposedly. But that was the last crew what about this one. They seem fine to maybe stay? There is a dilemma for the Rats. When it is time for the new council to be picked does the current one order the Rats to prevent them from coming up. This council seems convinced it has power, great power.

One additional thing: Just about everything Veteran listed is NOT available to the common citizen in any way, shape or condition. Put any sized clip on your AR-15 or equivalent and before you empty it, you would be history. Some of those weapons have sensors you probably can’t imagine.Let’s address the “real” issue. It’s not the weapons, but who’s getting their hands on them. Almost all the recent shootings have been done by people with severe mental issues. How about getting a psychological exam before you can purchase a weapon? How about mandantory training to use it properly? In many cases the weapons were stolen. Should we prosecute people who don’t securely and safely store their arms and ammunition? Is that okay by you?

Sorry about the tirade fellow readers. I’m really trying to head off a political diatribe.

On the difference between Jake Jackrabbit and Mr. Allgood: Jake Jackrabbit wants the Endtowners to embrace their inner and outer animal, to be what they appear to be, right down to changing their names to emphasize it. Mr. Allgood wants the Endtowners to preserve their humanity, to enforce rules of conduct and behavior that may no longer apply in the new situation they’ve found themselves in.#Either position might lead to disaster or dictatorship, mass murder or a mess.#But of the two, Allgood seems to have moved further down the road, having gotten friends on the High Council willing to act on his beliefs.

One thing about the Security Rats…somehow, if the situation continues to the “drawn and quartered” point, I doubt if all of them will stick with it. Allgood’s point was about behaving as if they were all still human—-which they are, Security Rats and Endtowners, no matter what they look like—-and, short of falling in love, what could be more human than having compunctions about murder?
