And just like Black History Month, I think it should be a year ’round event.

Why do all these people sound exactly the way my parents sounded back in 1968?

There is a Hispanic History month (mid-Oct to mid-Nov), Italian History Month(Oct.), Women’s History month(March), Native American History Month (I think Nov.). (These are the only ones I know off the top of my head and their months but Each month actually is taken but only Feb is pushed for some reason.)

Schools should actually teach history, true history. But as it is parents have to apparently. And since many children don’t know about Hitler, Stalin, Columbus, Thomas Jefferson, need I rant on…

@ Critic616 – The earring in pirates ears was not ornamental. They were worn so the gold could be used to pay for their burial if they died in a land away from home.

Ashburn Stadium is a perfect reason young people do not listen to adults – because they lie to get their way.

I’ve noticed that the more my generation whines about sagging pants, the lower they get.

But then my generation was the generation that thought tight pants and disco shirts unbuttoned to the navel with gold chains on a hairy chest was cool. (Blech)

Notice how cons think that adding any other history into the mix besides the main stream history that excludes anyone who isn’t white and male is “indoctrination”.

It isn’t just “blacks” that do this. Walk into any middle/high school and you’ll know what I mean. Saggers originated from prison. It let other inmates know you were “available”.

LarryW2LJ: It was in the belief that it improved eyesight – coincidentally, since there was negligible east-west communication in those days, the earlobe contains some acupuncture points relating to the eyes. Most “burials” were at sea with minimal expense, anyway.

There probably are. These would all overlap. There are thousands of “appreciation” days/months etc., most of which are universally ignored by all but the applicable few.

Blacks just didn’t have enough wars — all I ever learned in “white” history classes was war. I find “black” history much more interesting.
