Something tells Alix’s allowance isn’t much of a sum… which why I guess she can only do handmade necklaces…

Yeah. Not too easy to find a genuine “churchkey.” That is, one that does not have a stupid magnet rivetted on to it.

Alix is what? Nine? Between 8 and 10 are the ages you expect kids to make handmade gifts. Any younger and parents buy it for them, any older and their allowance is expected to support the gift season.

It probably would be in an antique store. We use to have one that mounted to the cabinet. Would love to find one of those again.

I still have a cast metal parrot whose beak is a bottle opener (was my parents) and paint/enamel is rather worn. It is well over 50 yearss old and lives atop my frig (with a ceramic parrot pitcher and some colorful vases. Various bits of my bird collection live all over my house and yards and many have practical use but mostly just decor.

if the churchkey did not have a magnet on it, you tied a string to it and it hung from the counter – just like I want to do to the TV remote.
