My wife and I have been married for 28 years now. Whenever someone asks me what the secret to a long marriage is, I always tell them the same thing… A very large life insurance policy and a dream.

My kid brother found the perfect wife on his second go round. Not only is she a fantastic cook but she drinks beer and loves sports ( and is very knowledgeable about her teams ) !

Um. At the risk of getting stomped on, I’ll assert that in some families the wife always gets her way, in others the husband. It depends on the individual. Some marriages are 50-50, others vary along a continuum, including those very lopsided one way or the other.

Even in Muslim households, the man has to do what the women want. Picture a family and mother in law coming to the US for work. A has been singer from their country is coming to town. I guarantee that man will get tickets to the event, no matter what the cost, if the women want to see it.

If he doesn’t, he will get no peace or dinner for quite a while.

I know of a woman younger then me she was married for 20-years the husband treated her poorly abusive, they divorced, he is trying to turn their 3 sons against her. She is a loving mom who did have a job. She got the house and debt in divorce settlement and he does have a fantastic job not paying allimony really no child support. She went through a real rough emotional time. She loves being single.

I and my husband continue being married 31 years heading next year to 32. For me I try not to take advantage for I have a great husband. I want my man to have a say what he wants to do. Then on some shows he watches wrestling and I go elsewhere since I do not care to watch wrestling. I have some shows I like he does not same difference. When medically necessary for me he was there, now I am for him and he does not go much for medically necessary work. I feel I have a gem of a husband.

We were married nearly 55 years before his death. When he was asked once what our secret was, he replied “Vengeance!”
