My, what a quick spider! How about they call Garfield to get rid of it?

That’s what I was thinking: a glass jar and a heavy piece of paper, maybe an index card. When I was 6 or 7, I was helping my older sister catch bugs for her science project. I caught a little black spider that way- with a jar, a piece of paper, then flipped the jar over and put a lid on it. LOL- I didn’t discover until I got home with it that it was a black widow spider.

Look up Huntsman spiders. They are big and very fast and very hard to kill. I have had a couple in my house. I am not a fan.

Love the confusion/question mark from inside the handset vacuum (and Dust Buster is a registered trademark – should have the little circle R after the name). Captain Copyright Lawyer’s Former Secretary, signing off for today.

If a spider that grotesque scuttled that fast back into my house, It would be the central vac for him. And he wouldn’t be “pooping up” again anytime soon.

They refer to the large spider as “him”. Females tend to be larger, so if it’s spectacularly large – probably female. Just wait until the little ones hatch out…

I leave the spiders in my house alone. They are mostly in the basement and mind their own business. If I see one in the living area, I catch it and take it back to the basement. Plus, they take care of whatever other crawlies come along :) I do have to Swiffer up their webs every now and then though. I feel bad about that, but even I have a line.

When I was a kid. I thought if I took them outside to release them that if they ever did become monsters I would be spared from being attacked:):).

Jan, thanks for restoring my confidence in you and in Alix. I wrote you before about Alix being afraid of the spider. You wrote back that I should wait and see. You’re a genius. I love the strip. I raised two daughters about the same age apart as the girls here and often forward the strip to them…You are so spot on. Molly Cook

I worked hard to overcome my fear of spiders so that I would not pass it on to my daughters. One that size (and not confined) would definitely be an exception.

I don’t kill spiders. It means rain if you do.

Don’t know why that old wives’ tale is around, but I sure don’t mess with it.
