Hmm, and women’s suffrage took how long in the U.S. under those nice “Christian principles” of the guys running the show?

^But when it came to Desegregation and the Civil Rights Movement, things got close to that. They seldom talked about the NAMES of the victims, but they were there. And maybe this will begin to shame the ordinary people of those areas into rejecting the Taliban as their default leaders.Sort of, “I may not care if my daughter gets an education, but for them to KILL her because SHE wants one is WAY out of line.”

Ariel’s witheringly sarcastic stand against the Taliban’s violence on women.

Silent, though, on the Christian Taliban’s violence on women. No thoughts on “Legitimate Rape”?

America has a history of violence on female leaders too.

How about Rush Limbaugh calling a woman a slut because she was advocating for birth control pills as part of health benefits.

Again and again, it’s second-class citizens by any other name… You have to have them to do the dirty jobs, like cook your meals and bear your children.

to pay for her night-time catlike sex habit …

That’s the language of the War on Women, brought to you by your friendly local Republican blowhard. Is it any wonder most women will vote against Mitt?

In fact there have been protests — not enough, but not to be ignored:

Wow, our “righties” are SO rational, open hearted, and open-minded. The fact is suffragettes WERE attacked, beaten, and some died, in this country.

BUT! The REAL ISSUE is the fanatic fundamentalists who will kill anyone opposed to them. IN THIS COUNTRY, we have other groups of fundamentalists, killing folks on a regular basis, no less closed-minded than Muslim nut cases. They are called “gangs” and our police deal with them daily. Whether “Bloods”, “Crips”, “M-19”, or KKK, these groups use violence, and yes, murder, to challenge anyone who opposes their “turf” or social order, or “beliefs”. It doesn’t required religion, profit motive over drug sales, or any rational concept, it is hate, and fundamentalist intractability, IS the source.

That females are required to be submissive, and dominated, in almost all these groups, IS sorta’ interesting.

Our fanatics only kill civil rights workers and the occasional abortion provider. Maybe blow up a child care center now and then.

In a land full of poverty, hardship, brutal wars and war orphans, this young lady shines like a star on our own flag. How many hear this story without seeing something of what we cherish in our own national spirit? She wants freedom to be educated, to reach for her dreams, to one day be employed and the kind of adult her paradigm leads her to be.One wonders if Malala would be willing to move to the USA or Europe to complete her education? Or, would she want to stay and continue helping her community? Our ability to help her is limited. Our ability to save our neighbor’s children, and ours, is limited only by the level of effort we are prepared to offer whether in cash, volunteerism, or pointed letters to local, state, and national legislators. Every child shines, Malala is unusually bright.Prayerfully,C.

outrageous comments….America was settled by a large number from England where for ages girls were educated and unmarried females earned their living by being “governesses” or schoolteachers to educate both girls and boys.-Education was Private and much of it was done by churches where the New Testament since the 1st century A.D. taught that women are equal to men—-Christianity promoted education for women and raised the social status of females.-the totally adult female that chose a Catholic school so she could agitate for things that church opposes…contraception, etc……demanded so much “expenses” be given by government that she looked and sounded like a street worker who wanted and needed super protection for her “active sex life”…..I would not want a girl in my family associating with the likes of the TV “star” that Rush called a street name….-Islam teaches that females are equal to a man’s livestock.A muslim man can divorce when he pleases, can marry multiple wives, beginning at extremely young ages for a “wife”, and “honor killings” are common for victims of rape and group rape, or any “reason” the Muslim man imagines. There is no comparison in the status of females in Islam to the status in Christianity……Islam still practices kidnapping and enslavement of young girls, and boys.

Agree totally with Kylie! By the way, Rush “apologized” for using “one or two” wrong words. Ms. Fluke was advocating NOT for HER sex life, but for coverage for others, like her friend who needed birth control pills to help prevent ovarian cysts. So, Disgusted, I hope it never happens to one of yours.

By the way, ONLY MEN testified at the GOP controlled hearing, as Ms. Fluke was deemed “unqualified” to talk about women’s issues.

And if HE spends that much on Viagra/Celebrex HE is one. As a friend of mine once said: If you can’t get it up, don’t get it out!" And don’t make ME pay for it!

Kylie2112 said….blah, blah…(.quoting Bible for Paul’s rules of order for private Christian worship services!)-Kylie, you have no justification for extending church service rules to the entire Society or the World…!!!-DrCanuck said….blah, blah. …Of course Great Britain never produced women of fame (according to you)….the one I appreciate is PM Margaret Thatcher….a “pal” of my hero, US Prez Reagan…the both of them together won many important political battles for the West…-@ahab….I do not support any Mormon teachings….Mormonism is not true to the Bible….but I can vote for a secular job for a Mormon like Romney because of his positions on abortion and his friendship with Netanyahu and his full support for Israel as the USA’s best Ally and Friend in the Mideast.…. “President of the USA” is not a religious “Pope” kind of job. Romney will be restrained by the US Constitution.
