Alix: Gramma's staying in Thailand?
Val: She's going to help build a school.
Alix: Can we go visit her?
Val: Thailand is too far away, but we'll chat with her on the computer.
Alix: CYBER Gramma?
Holly: Dibs on her room!
I’d let Holly have her room IF she is willing to assume Grandma’s former responsibilities. Of course if Grandma comes home she has to move back in with Alix.
Back before Joan married Wally, she had her own room in Val’s house. Evie had a room, Val had a room and the kids shared a room. I would think that when Joan left, the kids each got their own room. So why does Holly want Evie’s room now?
One (sad) bit of trivia - Robert Parker, who died yesterday, had as his most famous character the detective Spenser. In one of his last novels (Rough Weather - 2008) Spenser is reading the newspaper, which he does every day, and he’s musing. He always reads Doonesbury first, next Tank McNamara and then Arlo and Janis. He then mentions getting interested in a new one, called “Stone Soup”, which he thinks just might replace the “void left by Calvin and Hobbes”. I just finished that book yesterday, one of many I have by him.
R.I.P., Robert.

I don’t think Grandma misses you too much either, Holly.

I can understand how Holly feels. I always wanted my own room when I was growing up.

Maybe Holly isn’t looking to relocate, she’s looking to expand…

Holly should be able to sleep in Evie’s room anytime she leaves for a long time, but not move in it.
