I remember when I was trying to do a word find in a book my mom got me, and I got stuck on a word. This was when I was maybe in first grade, and it took me a long time to even find it in the answers section, and my mom got upset at me for cheating.
I hate to cheat on crossword puzzles and would not sink to the depths of looking up an answer in a solutions page. But… if I’m completely stuck I will do a search for an answer and try to learn something about the clue or the answer beyond the mere word itself. In that way I at least learn something as a result of my cheating. (Well… admittedly, if the clue is about something inane (pop culture, for example), then I don’t bother to attempt to learn anything.)
I cheat on crossword puzzles for names of obscure actors, rivers, etc. There’s no way I can figure those out, and I’ll look them up if I can’t get them by filling in the opposite-direction words.

Whew, I’m safe then. I don’t cheat on crossword puzzles, I just make up words to fit. Sometimes a Klingon word fits…who knew!?

Put them with the Episcopalians who used the wrong fork at the parish stewardship dinner.

If you just do crossword for/by yourself there doesn’t have to ever be any cheating – you can make your own rules (and change them if you need to).

At least it’s not the “special level”, reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theater…

But never committed any other sins? No lying, selfishness, insults, lustfulness, violence, laziness? That’s actually pretty good.
