Too much coffee and the result will be like an alcohol hangover. It is a routine that needs to be broken. Rather than a cup of coffee, read a GoComics. It works.
I had to cut out all coffee, even Decaf, about 15 years ago. Never got any of those headaches, though it was tough giving it up all the same. Especially when at someone else’s house and they were making some coffee. The aroma always made me want some, even still. I am reduced to drinking tea and I love the tea, but…..
When I was a teenager and dieting I drank coffee – black,no sweetener. I continued when I worked in an office with other people as we would stop for same at around 10 am.
My stomach decided it did not like the acid from the coffee and I drink it extremely rarely now – less than once every few years. Never had headaches from stopping it – just stomach aches from drinking it. (As always no part of me seems to work as it does for other people.)

I made a pot of coffee today — first one in over a year. Since retiring I’ve almost exclusively become a tea drinker.

Withdrawl symptoms. Coffee stops keeping you awake and you are addicted to it. That is how cocaine gets too if you use too much of it.
