Dropped Facebook years ago. Haven’t missed it but will bet it hasn’t stopped selling my info and following my online activity – like this one – since. It’s like crabgrass. Always another ‘sprout’ showing up somewhere, and absolutely no value.
If there was an OFF button for Facebook / Instagram … I’d push it. (then I’d distribute Zuckerberg’s billions to all those he’s banned from his little platforms because they didn’t agree with him on everything).
There are no 24 hour news channels in the US anymore. You get a few hours of news (filled mostly with commercials) interrupted by talking heads or investigative shows. CNN, HLN, Fox and MSNBC are the worst.
I remember pre-cable days when you actually got news. “News” channels do not only slant the news, they get to decide what IS news.
I read my news on line but I have to be careful and I have to dig. The bots that monitor my browsing habits decide, ‘“Oh, you like articles like this? We’ll show you more articles like this." and thereby reinforce my echo chamber. So I do select services that don’t align with my point of view.
I wonder what ever happened to Occam’s razor. The CDC says, get a measles vaccination. CNN says get a measles vaccination. Fox News says get a measles vaccination. But people would rather believe conspiracy sites stating that vaccinations are an extraterrestrial alien plot to take over the human race.
Mr Hart…. You know what would be fun? If you coordinated the “classic” Id or BC with the new one…. Do a different take on the old cartoon. Especially if it was one of the series strips, like when one caveman (I forget who) gets covered in hair, or Peter’s hotel….
To much news is bad for you, unless you are actually adding in a fair portion of good news. Healthy babies born, puppies being raised in loving homes with good people. People getting better after a fall and going home. Come on News, give us some more happy.
I’m old enough to remember when cable’s pitch to get people to pay for a free service was “commercial free TV.” Fast forward 40-50 years … I use mute on live TV and fast forward on recorded shows. Our local Fox channel offers 4 hours of news – 05:00 – 09:00 on weekdays. IF there was truth in advertising they would say 4 hours of commercials with a few news & weather breaks!
The problem is that most of them instead of going in deep into stories and covering a wider field limit them and spin the same new wheel every hour on the hour.
No, they’re big pharma’s paycheck for damaging humans creating more business for themselves. You Snowflakes have a measles phobia. My generation held measles parties to get it over with. Many more people have died from the vaccine than the whimsy measles!

And with enough photo’s and half-truths you get a like button on Facebook and if your page is all adverts, you get 3 like buttons.

Could not have phrased that better.

FarceBook is even worse than the “news”.

Or what Taco Bell is to traditional Mexican. Or what McDonald’s is to fine beef.

One gang banger shooting another gang banger in the hood is not news.

More like 24-minute news, repeated 24 times a day.

There is one particular 24 hour newstation which repeats the news every 30 minutes but my biggest complaint is WAY too many commercials!
