Why do Cassie and Murray looks so much older than Janis and Arlo????

Someone’s angling for the guest room.

It’s always more expensive when you pay by the hour.

The cross-country trip is a worthy effort for a retired couple. Two years ago we drove from Georgia to visit our son/family in Colorado Springs via the Grand Canyon. We still talk about that great trip.

I’m enjoying this arc! Nice bookend to last week’s college flashback and it’s fun to see how the friends paired up :-)

I must have missed something. Who are these people?

Just noticing the apparent age difference between Cassie and Janice. They were about the same age in college but now Cassie looks much older.

Now I understand previous strips where they were frantically cleaning, buying expensive steaks, etc. They were getting ready for a visit from Cassie and Murray.

Arlo, got an empty bedroom.

A couple years ago (before the pandemic) I drove my daughter across the country from the Virginia Naval Base to her new assignment at the Seattle Naval Base. We took our time and stopped at all the attractions along the way. It ranks up there with one of the best times of my life.

Arlo and Janis haven’t aged since their college days. Cassie and her husband have though.

Someone refresh my memory. Who are Murray and Cassie?

Arlo and Janis has always operated on a very thin storyline—but who are these people and why do we care?

The guest room they fixed up for the kids will come into good use.

Murray and Cassie are part of the “origin story”

It’s easy to tell today which commenters just read the strip every now and then.

why are Cassie and Murray SO much older looking than Arlo and Janice? weren’t they the same age? they didn’t age well at all!

Now I want to see the back story on how Murray and Cassie got together. They did not seem like a good fit when we saw them a few weeks ago.

The cost of hotels aimed at casual travelers (i.e., not the higher end ones), relative to their college days, is stupidly cheap these days.

I’ve hit on this before. The 1975 flashback that started last month is not the first. In 1997 JJ ran a 1973 flashback using different circumstances and outcome. It closely followed the dialogue of Gone With The Wind, but Arlo and Janis did not hookup.
