Let the Republicans take us over the cliff. Bush tax cuts will disappear and Pentagon spending will revert to 2006 levels.

Supposedly, the TEAsers don’t care if they are re-elected. It’ll be interesting to see how many are willing to get off the gravy train.

It’s not fair that rich people hide their money? Do you give everything you have to the government? Yes or no, I’ll let you choose if you’re a hypocrite or not.

I know people are hungry; I helped cook meals and serve them every Sunday under the banner of “Food Not Bombs”. When people look you in the eye and say “bless you” or simply “think you” you can feel the sincerity. As Kirk Vonnegut once said, “we are here to help each other get through this thing whatever it is”. Trying to accumulate as much money as possible so you will be the richest man in any room you are in is a twisted view of life. If there is any justice to be dealt out in the afterlife I want to see these arrogant, greedy people ride a camel through the eye of a needle.

You mean the Democrats who keep spending more and more, refusing to pass any budget that is not word for word theirs, and made no attempt to pass a long term budget during the 3 years they had absolute control are still not to blame? Get a clue.

The real greedy ones are the ones who tell the rest of us how they are entitled to free everything.

@lontooni – You are not the only one who works with charities to help the less fortunate. And I agree with you that we should all help as much as we can.
But the system is broken when the government only goes to half of us (roughly) and says not only must you pay taxes to support the government but we are also going to confiscate wealth so that we can redistribute it to the other half.
But wait…There’s more…Then the Elite in the government (Read here Obama, Pelosi, Reid) will scold those of you who are paying taxes because they will say YOU aren’t paying enough and tell the taxless half that they would be better off if those GREEDY taxpayers just contributed a little bit more.
In the past I looked forward to community service. Now with the government propping up so many at my expense I just feel like I’m being fleeced.
When did being self sufficient and preparing for your own retirement become a pjorative? It’s real easy to assume that those of us who are saving for a rainy day and taking care of ourselves are only doing it to deprive some deadbeat of a free meal.
It sounds like you will only be happy when all of us are dragged down to that level. Well I’m here to tell you that it won’t happen. Success is still possible: Pick a good profession, Become the best at what you do (That’s the trick), Work hard at what you do (another trick), and then save back some of what you earn and invest it wisely. My wife and I started with $100 between us and now through hard work and fiscal discipline we are well on our way to a comfortable retirement.
The government would have plenty of money to pay it’s bills if it wasn’t so busy catering to every sob story that comes up in an effort to buy votes.

If the poor are getting “everything for free” how come they aren’t the ones crusing aroound on the yachts?

@Mephistopholes
I started out with about $100 bucks too. Of course in those days I could take my girl to a firdst run movie and stop for a snack afterwards (burgers & coke) for under $2.00. And along the way, I saw a lot of people who started with more than I did who worked hard and still failed. A lot of it was luck of the draw. Unless you are in the top 1%, I don’t know what you’re bitching about.

I am so very tired of the uninformed rhetoric about ‘the elites giving all our taxes to deadbeats"
20% of the US federal budget goes to Social Security for current existing retirees.
21% goes to Medicare and Medicaid, of which the lion’s share goes to current existing retirees.
20% goes to the militrary.
7% goes to VA and federal pensions. 6% to interest on the debt.
13% goes to "safety Net Programs, much of which is “the refundable portion of the earned-income and child tax credits”.
So . . . something like two-thirds of the entire federal budget goes to current existing retired seniors, the military, and veterans.
I pay taxes. I receive no revenue from any of the above.
What about you, Mephistopholes? Are you receiving any income from the above? If you want budget cuts, where do you cut?

@Walrus – Luck certainly helps but that is how Reid, Pelosi, and Obama justify taking so much from those of us who produce wealth. You were lucky, you didn’t deserve all that money you made, you couldn’t have built your wealth if it wasn’t for us. And the Deadbeats that vote for them love to buy into that myth because it justifies why they weren’t successful. No one wants to look in the mirror and say: You weren’t successful because you didn’t work harder then your competition and you spent everything you made rather then save for those rainy days. It’s much easier to buy into the garbage spewing out of the Liberal Elite’s mouths that convinces the populist crowd that the successful are somehow to blame for their lack of success.
What I’m complaining about is a runaway entitlement program that has the unemployed convinced that they are entitled to live off the fruits of others labors because somehow they got a raw deal. A system that makes an entire class of people grateful to the government for the handouts they get while at the sametime hating the people who are funding the government so they can get those handouts.
In their Zeal to pander to those who feel they haven’t been treated fairly they have literally robbed those people of their sense of self worth (The True Evil of the Liberal Elite). Many don’t even try anymore because they have been convinced that they can’t succeed.
Thomas Jefferson said it best: “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have”.

A, the republicans are running the house. Time to blame spending on them.
B, Are you sure about that 3 years? Which three years. Becuase I count 2 years where they had majorities in both houses, and even then, they didn’t have “total control”
C, Remember when the republicans had “total control” of washington for 6 years? How well did that work out.
