It’s amazing how an image without any words can speak out so powerfully and in so many volumes.

Holly is a remarkable person. She doesn’t shy aside when there is someone in distress. I think her emotions are more for the whole of humanity at this point, not just the cruelity that Wally remembers. That is what he was talking about. The cruelity all around at that point. He was and is still very crushed by the inhumanity that those he has been working with, supposed friends??? turn on him in such a vulger fashion. Tears are for everyone, not just for himself.

“So your tears fell and melted the snow
You told me secrets nobody had known
but I never loved you more even though
now I knew what you did.”
This is a song about unconditional love, to go with a comic strip about unconditional love.

I like how Wally is wringing his hands and Holly decides to hold them. She looks like a woman who finally understands Wally’s pain and how Ally’s words affected him.

This is so sad. Holly is an incredible individual to help him through this.

Possible. Given the timing shown in the Sparkplug flashback, there’s probably only a few months left from when Apex developed the Zero bombs to The End. If he was sedated at the time, that would explain why he turned anthro instead of into a monster.

Good point! I hadn’t thought about the reason why Wally became an anthro. It would also explain his past issue of accepting what he was instead of holding onto his previous appearance.

    Bring Her Back

    (Stones, not Les Miserables!)
(The video at the link above is particularly relevant.)

I see a red floor and I want it painted black
No blood stains anymore I want her to come back

I see the family suspecting not a thing
I have to turn my head the memories still sting

I see the bullet holes at least they all are black
But spatters on the wall still scream of the attack

I see people lying dead; I quickly look away
It’s likely folks in Apex do this every day

I look inside my mind and see my heart is black
I see the red floor, and she’s never coming back

Maybe she will fade away, the whole dream going black
It’s not easy facin’ up when you’re in the attack

I wear this badge and think of that horrific night
Her ghost is watching me, that badge has not turned white

If I look hard enough into these ditto dreams
She dies again; I hear the bullets and the screams

I see a red floor and I want it painted black
No blood stains anymore I want her to come back

I see the family they’re pleading on the floor
We pulled the triggers, don’t remember any more

I wanna see her face, bring it black
Back to life, back at work

I wanna see the war blotted out from my mind
I wanna see her walking, talking caring, sharing life

    Mmm, mmm, mmm…

The diseased world has been dealt a death blow, by blast and plague and atrophied indifference. The likes of Holly and Wally are keeping the human flame alive.

This is not a story about revenge. It is a story about survival. To stay alive and not know why you’re living… is defeat.
But Wally and Holly, if they’re to have a victory that means a single thing, must hold on true to their humanity.

In a world of grays, this one splash of color really shocks.

Anything is possible, but I get the feeling that it is most likely Wally’s eventual mutation is a seperate story. Remember, at this point in the story, he’s still in a distant country. He’s got to get back to Hillside before the end. As I said yesterday, he’s too small of a fish for Apex to expend much effort on. The confinement and sedation would be a short term measure. On a seperate note, I love how Aaron gives the teacher a face at the end. She becomes a real person, no longer an anonymous silhouette. Powerful.
