This is just pathetic, even for the Obama campaign. He cannot possibly run on his abysmal record, so his people have to time travel all the way back to 1965 for an incident that the alleged victim’s family denies even happened.I can hear his angry supporters now: “Oh, yeah? Well, if Romney didn’t do it, Bush probably did!”

Since Romney doesn’t remember the workers whose jobs he destroyed 25 years back, we can hardly expect him to recall somebody he humiliated half a century ago.

On the other hand, his recollection of Mormon history is both detailed and precise. Every Sunday he tells the congregation of Latter-Day Saints about his ancestors the Lamanites and how zealously they did God’s work destroying the Nephites. Here is a lament by the victims:

“And behold, the Lamanites have hunted my people, the Nephites, down from city to city and from place to place, even until they are no more ; and great has been their fall ; yea, great and marvelous is the destruction of my people, the Nephites.”

This is not an Ohio factory worker fired by Bain Capital. The speaker is Moroni, son of Mormon (Book of Mormon 8:7). Will we be hearing this cry next year from teachers and other public service employees laid off by a President Romney bent upon “recapitalizing” America for the one per cent?

Can’t wait for the set of strips on story in the Washington Post on the massacre in Arkansas involving Mormons that took place 150 years ago.

Oh, and guys? Maxwell, one of witnesses who spoke to the Post and was supposedly haunted by the incident said, in another interview, that Romney would make a good president because he was very principled — after noting he (Maxwell) was a Democrat and probably wouldn’t vote for him.

The reason – for me anyway – that this is not a nonissue is that Mitt brushes the whole thing off as “hijinks.” I have not heard him say what a horrible thing it is to assault another student – even if he was not involved. That troubles me because it says a lot about what he thinks the powerful can do to the powerless.

Some of your friends tried to challenge Obama’s right to be on the Georgia ballot using your theory. They lost. No federal court is ever going to endorse your theory. So you should just give it up and oppose Obama on public policy grounds. You just make yourself look silly with the usurper rhetoric. Must be at least 35 years old.3. Must have lived in the USA for at least 14 years. It’s right there in the constitution, article 2, section1, clause 5. Nothing about the birthplace of one’s father.

We are a nation of immigrants, even though we have had a lot of sons and daughters of immigrants claiming that the new immigrants just aren’t as good as the old ones. I don’t think that naturalized citizens should be second class citizens, and while I probably wouldn’t vote for Arnold the Barbarian, I don’t think that he would betray us to the Austrians if he were elected President. While it’s true that our early president were never citizens of another country, they were all former British subjects.

“The 19th Amendment did not change the finding on Natural Born Citizenship”

There was no “finding” related to NBC in Minor. The opinion you quote clearly states that, "For the purposes of this case, it is not necessary to solve these doubts. "

The actual “finding” you seek was in US v. Wong Kim Ark. They also referenced Minor, but went beyond Minor to actually define NBC based on English common law. Quoting from the case:

In Minor v. Happersett, Chief Justice Waite, when construing, in behalf of the court, the very provision of the fourteenth amendment now in question, said: ‘The constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that.’ And he proceeded to resort to the common law as an aid in the construction of this provision. 21 Wall. 167.

    And the result:

The fundamental principle of the common law with regard to English nationality was birth within the allegiance—also called ‘ligealty,’ ‘obedience,’ ‘faith,’ or ’power’—of the king. The principle embraced all persons born within the king’s allegiance, and subject to his protection.…Children, born in England, of such aliens, were therefore natural-born subjects.

So there is a legal precedent that directly addresses the question, but it does not in any way support your position. It says, in plain English, that the President is a natural born citizen, thus qualified.

Of course, you won’t accept the clear evidence given here. You made up your mind a long time ago, and facts won’t change that.

Mitt was defending Paris as a missionary, while “W” was deserting from the National Guard, real courage under fire. Mitt also was of military age (18) when he harassed another student, no reason his juvenile mind should recall. Kinda’ like forgetting where the WMDs were located after you knew EXACTLY where they were??

Yup, unit citations and a good conduct medal, “guard” is a real front line E.T. , nope, just and REMF. Now, if he just actually read a little Constitutional law, or ever knew what he was talking about, he might contribute more than assaults on the President, and phony support for Mitt. “Rushism” are NOT facts.

btw, crew wings, overseas(combat) bars, and those funny “star” medals mean something, especially with “V” device. Interesting btw as well how “enlisted” often don’t get squat, or paperwork gets “lost” in the shuffle of war zones, but OFFICERS always seem to end up with at least a bronze star (without “v”) for just showing up. Just got a pat on the back, twice, when my paperwork “got lost”, and several friends had the same experience.

But, just like my son, 40+ years later, those VA benefits for permanent and total disability for multiple injuries and “effects” of war that I receive,, do say more than even a ribbon, or medal sitting in a drawer.

Go for it Garry! WE know YOU KNOW what we’ve done, and while you respect us vets, you call it on the phony “politicians” who deserve what you serve ’em! Thank you!!

The case in no way defined the term Natural-born. Please indicate exactly where, in the text of the Minor v Happersett case (which held that women did not have the right to vote, by the way), that it did so.

Take your medicine, it will make the voices go away.

From the case: “The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case, it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”

Meanwhile, back in the land that women and black people are allowed to vote:

A three-member Indiana Court of Appeals stated: “Based upon the language of Article II, Section 1, Clause 4 and the guidance provided by Wong Kim Ark, we conclude that persons born within the borders of the United States are ‘natural born Citizens’ for Article II, Section 1 purposes, regardless of the citizenship of their parents.” Ankeny v. Governor of Indiana (Ind.App., Nov. 12, 2009) 916 N.E.2d 678 at 688 101 Administrative Law Judge Michael Malihi in Georgia decided a group of eligibility challenge cases saying “The Indiana Court rejected the argument that Mr. Obama was ineligible, stating that the children born within the United States are natural born citizens, regardless of the citizenship of their parents. … This Court finds the decision and analysis of Ankeny persuasive.”102 Federal District Judge John A Gibney, Jr. wrote in his decision in the case of Tisdale v. Obama, "The eligibility requirements to be President of the United States are such that the individual must be a “natural born citizen” of the United States … It is well settled that those born in the United States are considered natural born citizens. See, e.g. United States v. Ark [sic] …" 103On October 31, 2008, Hawaii Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino issued a statement saying, “I … have personally seen and verified that the Hawai’i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.” 54104 On July 27, 2009, Dr. Fukino issued an additional statement saying, “I … have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.”105

Ah, now we have the basic breakdown in the understanding of English and logic.

    Quoted from your post:

The key phrase is “…, but never as to the first.” That refers to the now fact that to be Natural Born citizen, one must be, “…of parentS who were citizens who were its CITIZENS became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also.”

Notice that the words “one must be” are yours. At no place does the actual source material say that one must have two citizen parents to be a NBC. It does say that those born to citizens parents are, without a doubt, NBCs. This is an inclusive statement that excludes no one.

Thus, there is nothing in Minor to exclude those born to foreign parents. The status of these people is intentionally ignored, thus the “doubts” that aren’t cleared up, because they were irrelevant to the case at hand.

As Minor ducks the question (at least for those of us with English and logic skills), the Wong case, which directly addressed the question, would be a precedent that actually applies, regardless of the level at which it was tried.

“This was never presented in open court. The judge interjected this in closed chambers without the prosecution being given any chance to object or refute. This is wrong.”

It is up to Georgia law to determine the level of public access to various procedures of the courts, not you. If it was “wrong”, as you say, it would be illegal and could be challenged.

Obama…fill in the transgression!Really? Is this the best the Republican party can do? Dismiss their candidates thuggish behavior with counter-accusations of thuggism? How about nominating a candidate who isn’t either an out and out liar or so psychologically disturbed that he dissociated during an attack on a fellow human being? (For me, dissociation is the only logical explanation for the reason Romney doesn’t remember the assault when everyone else who participated remembers it quite well.)

Sorry, even with the text right there, you choose to parse out what supports an unsupportable position. Note the bold text, the court did not decide on the meaning of “natural born”, because it was not necessary for the case. So, unless you can dig up a Supreme Court case that actually defines the term, lower court decisions rule:

Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case, it is not necessary to solve these doubts. How many people will it take to prove it? Apparently, the FEC and state HHS officials don’t do it for you. What if Joe “Papiere, Bitte” Arpaio tells you something you don’t want to hear?

NATO has nothing to do with the 99% or the economy they claim to be rioting over, and you found a prank. Let’s see Obama ate Dog Meat, Did by his on writing Drugs and liked it, spent 5 trillion in a little over 3 years, and a guy got his hair shaved. (Yep; your right Gary, Hang Him!)

The liberals must be scared of Romney to have to dig so deep into his past to find something to attack him.

I think Redfern’s lip curl says most of it. I am SO looking forward to Americans voting the traitorous cannibalistic 1%…and in varying degrees, Republicans generally…off the continent.

Feminazis, libmedia and Duncebury? Spoken like someone who listens to Rush. Clinton didn’t bully women. He didn’t chase women who didn’t want to be chased. Big difference. Plenty of women wanted the attention from Clinton. Also, no one died when Clinton lied about his marital infidelity. No one was hurt by this except Chelsea and Hillary and they seemed to deal with it. They had reason to be upset, not you or me.

I knew I was perfectly safe with Bill Clinton. Romney, on the other hand, likes to bully folks who are not like him.

In combat and law enforcement, you learn how to judge character. Romney has nothing worth studying, he’s a bullying, spoiled brat, just like “W”. It is therefore quite easy to see where another herd of bullying cowards (like Cheney)will take us.

Why are any of you arguing with these fools? You know you can’t convince them. As my boss used to say, “There’s no point in wrestling with a pig. You only get dirty, but the pig enjoys it.”

@Basqueian “Lower class bullies go to jail eventually, It seems upper class bullies just become republicans”

Yes, just look at Phyllis Schlafly.

160 comments (and counting) — over half of them feeding the trolls.
