It’s funny but I’ve never had a snail mail chain letter. I’ve never seen my parents get one either. But through e-mail I get chainmail from my grandma. XD I hate those.

One flaw in the letter, if Calvin finds a friend who tells him to send it, he’s gonna get run over.

@Susan: Calvin is wearing a jacket today, because this was originally a December strip. It’s his dark jacket, which he usually wears in the winter, but on Wednesday he was wearing his light jacket when he came home from school and was pounced on by Hobbes. Maybe that was so that his jacket would show the dirt better after Hobbes pounced on him.In panel 3 of today’s strip it looks like he has on his usual striped shirt, but maybe that’s just the neck of a plain shirt, because in panel 1 there are no stripes visible. Maybe he has on a long-sleeved plain shirt, because it looks like he has a white sleeve in panel 2.

As a follow-up to yesterday’s comments on the original dates of the Calvin and Hobbes strips, the printed copyright date between the panels is the original year of the strip. However, the month and day in the corner of a panel (1-7 in today’s strip) are only for the current date, not the original month and day of the strip. Today’s strip was originally published December 13th, 1986.We should be approaching the end of the reruns from Bill Watterson’s first sabbatical. Hopefully we will return to 1991 strips in February, which is where we left off last May.

I have set up several “fox-stick” accounts that I foreward chain e-mail to. So far, not one account has received any spam. However, there are chains out there that if you foreward, will send that persons address back to original sender. This is how spammers get the addresses of those who try to protect themselves by giving out their address to only their closest friends. (A guaranteed way to get spam is to sign into a guest book!!)

@Dogsniff,I don’t know whether you read my response to you near the end of Jan. 3, and again at the end of yesterday’s comments. I know you look ‘forward’ to them so I wouldn’t want you to miss them. I hope you can look back on them with your usual smiling face. :o)Btw, isn’t almost everybody fascinated with you?

I used to get them in the snail mail long before e-mail was even thought of…tossed all of them in the garbage. It worried me so much, I tossed and turned 4-5 seconds before going to sleep that night!!

What people failed to realize in those chain letters is how quickly the chain can become saturated. The only ones who benefited were the ones who got in early. Send out two letters asking the recipients to forward to two more people. Forwarding each day and with no duplications, it will have gone to the entire world’s population in one month.

@Pelican47: You asked whether the strips will return to the proper season in February, after the sabbatical reruns end.I’m assuming they will be in sync again. We started the sabbatical reruns on May 8th, so we should resume the later strips early in February, since Bill Watterson’s sabbatical was 9 months long.Watterson’s first strip after returning from sabbatical was on February 2nd, so I’m hoping the syndicate continues on with that strip, beginning in February.

A prince in Africa is gonna mail me a check for $2,000,000! All I have to do is send him $2,000 for processing fees. Sounds good to me. There were actually 4 doctors in Southern Oregon a few years back that fell for one of these scams. Just shows theres a sucker born every minute.
