He ‘trying’ to say or ‘really’ saying that cider is not good?

I think he actually answered the question when he said “hard-pressed.” In other words, the best way to to make good cider is by hard pressing the apples. Peter just decided to make a subtle pun out of the answer.

Why would he tell you when he’s selling his own?

“double entendre” is French for “Two ways to hear”

They usually use apples that have fallen on the ground to make cider, not the ‘good ones’ from the trees. (the ones on the tress, end up in our bellys!)

Love apple juice, never cared much for apple cider.

A local farmer had an orchard, and sold cider. One time a lady came by and asked, do you still use wormy apples for cider? He replied with a chuckle, Oh, no! With these sprays we use now we don’t have wormy apples. I have to send the kids out to catch grasshoppers for flavor!

Cider is unpatuerized apple juice. And you do need a hard press and apples straight off the trees.

One of our local orchards, Irons Fruit Farm, has absolutely delicious cider year after year—and fabulous apple fritters too. :D Lebanon OH just celebrated Applefest this past Saturday and our church booth sold out of over 200 apple pies, plus other treats.

Its an apple a day or a mug of steaming hot spiced apple cider a day. One gets rid of the doctor, the other keeps you happy.
