I saw a fellow on a bicycle today with short cropped hair that was brown with a ponytail that began up near the top of his head that was orange and thin, wrapped in a rubber band. He had short cropped mutton chop side burns that he left long at the bottom of the trim line that was also dyed orange.
Man, who let all the old farts on the comment thread today (said a guy who is old enough to be an old fart too :-)?Careful Wiley. Pretty soon you’re going to start yelling at those damn kids to get off your lawn.
At the high school where I work part-time, the deans LOVE the saggy, crotch-at-the-knees pants. Makes it so easy for us fifty-somethings to catch a fleeing teen…
Craig, I could be wrong but I think the sentiment on the sign is supposed to be Mort’s, not Wiley’s. Given the amount of ankle he’s showing and the scowl on his face, I don’t know that we’re entirely meant to identify with him.
It’s a fine line. There are SOME cartoonists from whom, if this gag had come from their pens, I would certainly take Mort’s opinion as the cartoonist’s, and that can get confusing.
The politics of Glenn McCoy’s editorial cartoons sometimes seep into “The Duplex,” but when Eno complains about, say, Michael Moore or the ACLU, it doesn’t seem to have registered on McCoy that he himself has firmly established Eno as an idiot…
Sorry Wiley, but when you have a “queue jumpers should go to hell”, “mature people don’t go in for boxing” and “the youth of today have stupid hair” threepeat going surely some if that stems from grumpy old man syndrome? :)
All kidding aside, I support anyone who has the desire to do and look as they wish. I have always embraced that philosophy in my own life and never judge another for doing the same. I think life is about experimentation, if you don’t then you miss out and what if.

Truth in advertising; not always appreciated.

Now if Mort would diversify into pants that ride down round the rear end, then wow he’d be rich!

I barely remember a sign in the barbers window, “Long hair needs cutting too”. Key word, barely.

He’ll need to get a few tattoos to be convincing.

I went through the long hair phase when I was young. And yes, I now realize that most of us did look like jackasses.

Maybe he doesn’t have any business because of his attitude!I’d give him the brush off, too.

The jackass comment seems timely – if only he did the cuts drunk with the scissors in his bum – then the youngsters would be lining around the block!
