The mushrooms, the sword in the stone, the aura around the book … but the sleeping dragon? Next level, Mr. Henry.

Levitation cantrip while brewing potions. More potions either for adventuring or for sale on the shelf by the door. Solid walls, thatch roof. Big honking window. Not a good defense, but then hes a Wizard after all, with a big scaly watch dragon. Probably invite folks in for a flask of ale or to discuss possible adventure. Nice little hut. It would be easy to construct a model.

I so love that technology lets me zoom out to see the details of Will’s drawings. Spectacular!

The title panel is just a far off view of Snug Harbor, little stilt houses on the various islands. I think after the EPIC main panel simplicity is fine for the title this time. That’s a whole lotta trees!

That an application or a resume?

An epic wizard beard takes a certain amount of dedication and commitment.

Well, when Wallace starts making a paper mache beard in class, we’ll all know why.

The house reminds me of Hagrid’s place in Harry Potter.

…and then it turns out the whole “wizards grow large beards” thing is just an unflattering stereotype and most wizards these days are fully clean shaven…

Those two ravens – possibly Hugin and Munin, gathering news and information for Odin? Or maybe just Hal’s version of them.

I was looking for a wizardly seagull, but all I got was a couple of crummy ravens. And Hal’s book of wizardly spells, which was cool.

The fiery dragon is used to heat the cauldron. It’s hot, dragon is on a break.

Masterful art.

I especially love how three of the scenes with Wallace and Spud are insets, but then there’s that one little guy in the upper right corner that’s different – it’s like the setting of the woods itself is the inset.

When I was in High School, I read “The Hobbit”, “The Lord of the Ring” and “The Once and Future King” and thought that being a wizard would be a very cool job. I actually thought Harry Potter made it seem not so cool. It seemed there was a lot of paperwork and regulation involved.

If the job is for ‘dragon feeder’, keep looking!

Well, the Welsh wizard Howell (Jenkins) became Howl in the Japanese version. Perhaps Hal is the New England version…the hut is just a portal to the moving castle…
