How can Bernice not know what car Nil drives by now?!?

I’m sure we could come up with some adorable theories about why Bernice has never seen Nil’s car before.

So the week ends with Bernice’s and Nil’s relationship neither advancing or receding. Sadly, this seems par for Greg’s writing lately.

Bernice’s brilliant mind concluded that the car with the privacy tint was Nil’s. Could it be that her subconscious is thinking about something beyond just kisses?

So just who is lurking in the car behind the tinted windows? Tune in next time…

Also an ILLEGAL tint in many states. In Calif you cannot tint the windshield or front side-door windows.

Nil must live with his parents, so his place is a no go, and Bernice lives with Luann’s parents, a definite no go. So where can they go when they both don’t want no?

These two “love moneys” didn’t even show up in the same car, fer Pete’s sake!

Maybe that’s a GOOD thing, each showing up in their OWN car.

Because it completely eliminates the very REAL possibly that Bernice would one day abandon Nil some place over some very FLAKEY reason.

Like what happened to this other chap We ALL know. ;-)

Let’s hope that the car starts. The making out didn’t go anywhere, the car might do the same thing.

Pretty catty look on Bernie’s face in the last panel. Her Mini Cooper she drives (that was actually shown, and Greg is pretty good at drawing cars), has a manual transmission. The way this is going, she will have four on the floor and two in the back seat.

To me, it seems Bernice only views Nil as a tool. She only wants one thing from him, and isn’t really paying any attention to his other qualities. It parallels how the writers are using Nil’s character… at this point, Nil seems to only be a tool to show how out of touch Bernice is with regard to other people’s experiences of the same events, and in the same vein, how ill-suited Bernice is for a career in mental health services.

Maybe her unfulfilled needs will have her talking in her sleep? Or was that Luann? So long ago I forget. Maybe she will have to resort to some personal electronics if she can’t figure out a way with Nil.

Bernice you been seeing Nil all this time and you don’t know what is car looks like.

First-time? Separate cars? Maybe Nil lives in a Mansion? What does Bernice knows?

1st panel: Bernice says she’s not into PDAs. Yet in the 3rd panel when she thought Nill had tinted windows on his car, she has this look of “oh, you naughty boy.”

So Bernice is just now learning what car Nil drives? Unbelievable! That’s among the first conversations couples have at that age.

Ah, just as I suggested, a change of venue; the car is a surprise, but well-played misdirection GnK!

I saw that secret smile when you thought the car with the dark tint belonged to Nil, Bernice. Making out in a car still counts as a PDA, nonetheless.

Bernice tells Nil, “It’s curtains for us”, and she proceeds to buy some blackout curtains for his car.

Even without a privacy tint, a car gives a lot of possibilities for privacy, way more than a park bench. Bernice and Nil should think about it. Actually, it looks like Bernice is thinking about it right now!

Why is Nil unlocking the back passenger door?

More privacy isn’t always a good thing for what they’re doing. It opens other doors to going far further than what you both wanted to, ending in later regrets. Some of those regrets can be irreversible, lasting a lifetime.

Bernice was just so distracted by Nil’s charm and good looks.

First, Bernice should know what Nil’s car looks like by now. Next, it is absolutely illegal to have the windshield tinted, and only a certain level of tint is allowed on the front side windows. It’s a safety thing, not just for the driver, but for first responders who need to see inside the car. Lastly, G&K’s attempt to make Nil look like the bad person here aren’t working.

If that HAD been Nil’s car, just how far would you gave gone Bernice? Maybe even to the extent of steaming up the windows?

For someone with a need for privacy (like Bernice) it’s quite inexpensive.

“Most window tinters charge between $25-$75 for each window. The total window tinting cost varies between $200-$400 for the entire vehicle” [from a local web page] Someone like Bernice could afford to get her jalopy windows tinted, I’m sure, especially since she’s not paying rent. It’s tempting for me, but my tax refund’s going to pay for a much needed set of tires. Or brakes.

Well, so much for my fantasy that one of the ladybird watchers was going to figure in this arc.

One of my neighbors likes the dark car look. His car is black with dark tinted windows. One day I told him his brake lights were out. He said I was the 2nd person that week to tell him that, but his brake lights were working — He had those tinted, too.

If two people in one week thought his brake lights were out, do you think the tint was too dark?

Its just kissing Bern. Newsflash, literally no one cares how much the two of you kiss, how hard you kiss. Nil likes her a lot ( won’t use the other L word ), but does she like him or does she like the trill she gets from making out behind bushes and trees?

I’m still haunted by Bernice’s comment 2 days ago, where she worried that “She’s going to report us!”. Who in the heck would they be reported to? It’s not like they’re in Junior High School!

Bernice was hoping.

This would have played better had Berniece simply said Wow,Nil—-look at that car. The windows are so dark! That way she wouldn’t have sounded so narcissistic. Poor writing.

I can understand if Bernice doesn’t want to be seen kissing in public but why the sneaking around, why is she hiding the relationship? They’re not married or with other people, they are of legal age, so what’s the problem. It’s ok, even for driven people to be in a relationship, one even where there’s kissing.

Hey Bernice, you seem to have gotten over your little shock and are ready for round two – but it looks like Nil has had enough. I guess if you don’t want to do a PA on PDA’s he’s just not into it anymore. I find it hard to understand why they are presenting the idea that Bernice doesn’t know what tinted windows are – and that she has never seen tinted windows. What year is it in this town anyway?

Sorry, Nil, but it’s time for little Elvis to go back to Graceland.

Bernie is hot to trot, just so long as it is not in public. I am not sure whether or not Nil realizes this….

There are several missing, once active, posters. Burn out or boredom, or just tired of mean spirited comments by some of the attack posters.

I don’t know where this relationship is going. Clearly, Bernice is attracted to Nils enough to kiss him in the park yet doesn’t want to be seen kissing him in public. And, there is still her unrequited feelings for Jack (which just may be lust). And how long will Nils put up with this? He obviously is attracted to Bernice but attraction is not enough to keep a man around.
